Would Grease On Brake Assemblies Cause Weak Brake Performance
Question:
I have weak brakes. I have a Prodigy 2 controller. I have checked all of the electrical circuits and everything tests fine. When I repacked the wheel bearings, I may have gotten some grease on the inner hub. Would this cause weak braking?

Expert Reply:
Grease on the inside of the drums will certainly affect the braking performance of trailer brakes. I would recommend you take the hub off and clean the brake assemblies and hubs with brake parts cleaner to get all of the grease out of there.
Also, make sure your brakes are properly adjusted as well.
