Should Tire Chains be Used on All 4 Rear Wheels on a 2005 Ford F-350 Dually

Question:

Pulling loads up to and around the 12k to 13k mark. Can not see using chains on all 4 rear wheels being inside would be somewhat of a hassle to install. You guys are the experts so my question to you would be, what would be the best for safety, performance and dependability? 2, 4 or all 6 tires?

Helpful Expert Reply:

On dually tires you do not have to install chains on all 4 rear tires. The outside tires alone would be fine. Having chains on all 4 rear tires would offer more grip and ultimately would be safer though.

Having chains on the front will help with steering and braking in snow and ice but they are not required. If you can tell me the tire size on your 2005 Ford F-350 I can make some recommendations. Always be sure to consult the truck owner's manual for specific information on the use of chains. I have also linked our tire chain help article for you.
