Will Swagman Bike Carrier Clear Rear Mounted Spare Tire On 2002 Honda CR-V
Question:
will this work on a 2002 honda crv? I need a LIGHT rack 20 pounds or less that I can put on and take off bad back, but i can ride a bike. If this will not work, what do you have that will work please? I might also consider a spare tire hitch, although, it would be permanent since I cannot lift the spare tire without a lot of pain to remove the rack. i have a class 3 hitch on the crv. Thanks!

There is a quick measurement you can take to make sure you have the clearance for anything to mount in your trailer hitch on your 2002 Honda CR-V.
You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the spare tire.
The Swagman Titan Hitch Bike Rack, part # S63400 has a distance of 14-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright bar. If the measurement you take is less than 14-1/2 inches you should have no problem with clearance of the rear mounted spare tire on your CR-V.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
