Brakes On Trailer Lock Up When Trailer Harness Is Connected To 2014 Dodge Ram 1500

Thanks for the advice on the wire harness for my 2014 ram. One more question when I plug the camper to my truck now the camper brakes lock up. Ive been told its because I have no brake controller. Is this possible

You will need to do some testing to make sure the wires on the trailer side connector are matched with the functions of the truck side connector. It sounds like you are getting current to the brakes on your trailer even when the truck brakes are not applied.

You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the pins on the truck side first. I have attached a photo that shows both the vehicle side and the trailer side of a 7-way connector you can check out.
