Availability of Plug and Play Flat Towing Wiring Harness for 2008 Subaru Outback
Question:
2008 Subaru Outback Im looking for a plug and play solution to wire my Outback as a towed vehicle like Tow Daddy used to have. Do you have that product for my car? If not, what is my best choice? Thank you.

Although our vendors don't offer a plug and play option, we do offer a universal harness, part # RM-154. The wiring harness would splice directly into the taillight circuits of your Outback, as demonstrated in the video I've linked. The video shows the harness being installed on a Honda CR-V, so the wire colors you splice into will be different, but the video should still give you a good idea of what the install involves.
If you don't already have a towbar and base plates, I'd recommend the Blue Ox Alpha towbar, part # BX7380 along with the # BX3613 base plates. Safety cables are included with the tow bar.
For a supplemental braking system, I'd recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. The Patriot won't require hours of expensive labor for installation. After initially installing the break away switch, the system will take just a few minutes to install each time thereafter.
According to my research, your Outback is capable of being flat towed if it's a manual transmission model, but it it's equipped with an automatic transmission, the vehicle should only be towed on a trailer. I'd recommend you confirm this for yourself with Subaru.
