With a 2000 Chevy Silverado, you should have a connector underneath the truck that a wiring harness will clip into. Tow Ready part # 118384 clips into the factory tail light wiring harness to provide a 4-Way flat trailer connector. I have included the instructions for this part below. Use the instructions and look to see if you have the necessary connector before you order. You could also use something like part # 30955 if you need a 7-Way.

If the connector is not found underneath your truck, you can hardwire your truck using part # 18252. You will use the included circuit tester to locate the proper wires on the vehicle. The wires coming from the back side of the tail light housings are the ones will you splice into. Follow the same procedure as you saw in the 2000 Chevy Blazer video as far as connecting wires. However you will not find a bundle like our installer did. You will have to trace the wires down from the tail lights and use a circuit tester to identify which wires serve which functions.

The green wire is for right brake and turn signal. Yellow is for left turn and brake. Brown is for tail/running lights. White is for ground. I have included a link to a video on using a circuit tester.
