Replacement Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailer with 10K Hayes Axles

Question:

I have a dual tandem trailer with 10k Hayes axles that are stamped 102874 and also 24384, I think the second number group is a date code. These axles currently have hydraulic disc brakes and the electric over hydraulic actuator is seized. I have seen electric brakes for other trailer that are very reasonably priced and I am hoping I could convert these but I dont know what to buy.

We have electric brake assemblies for Hayes 3500, 7000, and 12,000 pound axles, but not for 10,000 pound axles. Going with a different brand could have compatibility issues as we have found out in the past. Also, while it might be possible to use the 12K axle brakes they can be pricey and you would also have to add hub and drum assemblies on top of the brakes so the cost can add up.

I would replace the actuator you have since the trailer is already set up for it. The most popular option is Dexter actuator # K71-651. I have linked all the disc brake EOH actuators we carry as well.

Another option is to use an actuating coupler on the trailer. We have several rated for 20,000 pounds. I have included a link to those for you as well.
