Is New Brake Controller Adapter Needed When Upgrading from Time Delayed to Proportional Controller

Question:

I have a F150 and it came with the adapter for a brake controller. I currently have a timed controller but dislike how it locks up my breaks on my horse trailer even with taking it way down and then I feel I have no braking power when I need it. I want to purchase your P3 proportional controller. Do I have to get the adapter or will the one I have work with your controller

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195, is a great choice for your 2008 Ford F-150. This proportional brake controller activates immediately and will automatically adjust the trailer's braking based on the deceleration of your F-150. The P3 is very easy to set-up and use making it one of our most popular brake controllers.

If your current time-delayed brake controller is the Draw-Tite Activator I, Draw-Tite Activator II, Draw-Tite Activator III, or the Tekonsha PowerTrac, # 39523, the existing adapter in your F-150 can be used to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195.

If you currently have a different controller, you will need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter, # 3035-P, in order to install the P3.
