4 Bike Rack Needed for Use Behind a 21 Foot Travel Trailer with a 2 Inch Hitch

Question:

I have a 21 foot travel trailer with dual axles. Im having a 2 inch hitch welded on the back of the camper to handle a cargo rack that I purchased from you that will hold a 100 pound generator. Do you think there will be a problem with the 4 bike rack with this kind of set up? Ive been focusing on this platform style as opposed to a hanging rack because I will not be able to see the bikes and I dont want to worry about themmoving around or worse. Thanks

The Swagman XTC4 four bike rack, item # S64665, is not designed to be used behind any type of trailer. The problem is that these racks have not been built to withstand the increased forces that are present behind a towed RV.

We do have hitch bike racks that are designed for use behind trailers but none of the 4 bike models are platform racks. I have posted a link to the options we have that are rated for use behind RV trailers and motor homes.

I would recommend the Swagman Original 4-Bike Rack, item # S64400, which has padded cradles that and a very secure attachment system. You can add a cable lock, # S64030, to keep the bikes from moving around behind the trailer. These style of racks are designed sturdier and do not feature folding and/or tilting designs so that they can withstand the forces behind trailers and motor homes.
