Trunk Bike Rack Recommendation For 2009 Nissan Murano 5Dr 4x4
Question:
I have a 2009 Nissan Murano LE 5Dr and am having the worst time trying to find a trunk bike rack for three bikes. Most recommend a hitch and bike rack, but at $500 for both, I cant justify the expense as we are all fairly novice riders. I need to transport a 700c Schwinn Admiral Womens Hybrid Bike and two 20inch BMX Bikes. A lot of reviews about three-bike trunk rack stated that I couldnt use a KingJoe Pro for three bikes because of the glass hatch adapters that need to be used on the 2009 Nissan Murano. I wonder if I can use a Hollywood Rack Over the Top 3-Bike Rack safely for all three bikes we have. I dont mind if it takes a while to learn to fit the rack, or if I need to buy a few additional accessories, but I do want to be sure it fits safely and securely to my vehicle. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

The Hollywood Racks Trunk Bike Rack, part # HRF2-3 would be a great bike carrier for your 2009 Nissan Murano.
As you can see in the attached photo, the upper straps of the # HRF2-3 attach above the spoiler to the seam that separates the hatch and the roof or to raised side rails if your Murano has them. This bike rack has a 3 bike capacity at 35 lbs per bike and folds down for easy storage when not in use. I have attached a product review video you can check out. The video is for the 2 bike version but the installation and function will be similar to the 3-bike carrier.
If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance.
