Will a Vehicle Heater Work With a 2012 Mazda 3 2.0 SkyActiv Engine

Question:

Will this product work with the newer Mazda 3 with the SkyActiv engine? This is a 2.0L engine. Also, how well are the install instructions written? Is there much coolant loss during the install?

Yes, the Kat heater # KH11409 will work on your 2012 Mazda 3 SkyActiv as I called our representative at Kat's to confirm. You will install it in the rear of the engine block.

The instructions are written well but installation by a certified mechanic is recommended. See picture I included.

Coolant will need to be drained prior to installation and replaced once complete.

It's recommended, once your heater is installed, to have your local service station check your anti-freeze solution. On permanent type anti-freeze, a solution too strong or too weak will freeze. If it freezes, it will stop the flow of liquid through the heater and hoses and cause the heater to burn out.

Another installation note is the heater # KH11409 must be installed and submerged into coolant before energizing. If not, the element can burn out in seconds. Use a 50/50 solution of antifreeze and distilled water as well.
