Hopkins Engager Trailer Breakaway System Battery Will Not Charge
Question:
I have this in my breakaway kit, test says recharge, when pluged into truck, red light recharge stays on, removed battery and tests at 10volts, 4years old, is it junk? whats the life of these batteries?

Expert Reply:
Four years old is pretty old for a breakaway battery. Based on what you have described it could be a battery or the charger portion of the breakaway system. An auto parts store should be able to test the battery for you.
There are different versions of the Engager breakaway system. You can replace the main box using # HM20121. The battery for it is # HM20008.
