2004 Ford Explorer Brake Controller Recommendation and Installation
Question:
Good morning I have a 2004 Explorer with the factory 7-way connection and need to add a brake controller. I cannot locate the wiring harness in the truck to make the connection. Is there one on this vehicle? I found an article on your site referring to a connection behind the glove box and I have found this. If this is the connection, is the wire harness long enough to mount on the drivers side or will the brake controller have to be on the passenger side of the vehicle? Thank you

To install the P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 all you will need is the install harness part # 3035-P.
The Ford Explorer has a 6-pin connector behind the glove box on the passenger's side.
The port behind the glove box is shown in the video of the Trailer Brake Controller Installation on 2004 Ford Explorer that I have included. You can see it at the 4 minute 5 second mark.
The harness will be long enough for you to install the brake controller and still install where you need it near the driver seat on the dash board.
