Hitch Recommendations for a 2014 Ram 3500 with Hitch Prep
Question:
I just purchased a 2014 Ram 3500 with the OEM under bed 5th wheel mount. I own a Reese 18K Select Plus head/center with the 50008 round tube slider. I have read that the adapter RP30154 will not work with my slider. I would like to use the RP30864 legs and skip the adapter, but it looks to me like the 18K Select Plus center section 58293 will not mount to the legs, so I would also need the 58225 center section. Here are my questions. Will my 18K head fit the 58225 center section? Are there legs that will work with the RAM OEM mount and my current center section 58225? Or is there another option without spending a lot of money? I really don’t care about the slider as I have never needed it in 4 years, 10,000+ miles and dozens of backins.

I spoke to my contact at Reese and you have a couple options. If you wanted to use your current hitch in your new truck you will need to upgrade the slider of it to the # RP50024. Or, if you have a short bed truck and need the slider for tight turns, or the slider kit # RP50024 and then use the adapter part # RP30154.
Or, if you wanted to bypass the adapter totally you would have to use the # RP30918. No portion of your current hitch would be compatible with the leg kit # RP30864 that you referenced so your only option to install a hitch like this would be to go with the # RP30918.
