Isolator Recommendation for 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Using 2nd Battery

Question:

Hello, I am looking to add in a second battery on my 2014 silverado and had considered running them in parallel, but i like the idea of having the disconnect from the cranking battery from an isolator. I have never used an isolator in the past and am not sure which one i would need and if there is a pre fab install kit for it. Could you please advise on which i would need, i noticed that 3 different ones came up when i searched your site? Thank you so much for your help.

The highest rated isolator that we offer is one like the Deka Battery Isolator, # DW08771, which has a capacity of 120 amps. From the information that I was able to gather on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado it has an alternator with an amp rating greater than 120.

This isolator can be used with a higher amp rating alternator because an alternator typically will not be producing it's full amperage unless something were to require it like a dead vehicle battery. In this case, if the full amperage was drawn, the isolator could be damaged.

If your Silverado has a Delco or GM CS alternator, you can use the Deka Battery Isolator Installation Kit, # DW08768. This kit includes complete instructions, various 16-14 gauge terminals, sensor wire for "S" position on some GM alternator connectors, and primary wire.
