Will Tall Bindings Hit the Roof Using the Yakima FatCat Ski Carrier on a 2008 Acura MDX

Question:

I was interested in the Yakima Fatcat 4 and wanted to know if I will have enough clearance off the roof. I have a 2008 Acura MDX with factor cross bars. If I clamp this low profile rack on the cross bars will the skis be at least 5inch off the roof? I cant seem to find any dimensions from where the skis sit to the top of the cross bar and want to make sure a standard mounting will have clearance for the bindings.

The bindings will not be an issue when using the Yakima FatCat # Y03095. It has integrated SkiLift brackets. The brackets unlatch from the bottom of the rack and extend, creating extra space between the FatCat and the mount bracket on the hinged end of the carrier. This is a real advantage when you're carrying several snowboards or skis and one of them must be carried with the bindings facing the vehicle's roof.
