Where to Attach Torklift Glo-Step Scissor Steps on a 2004 Eagle Cap Cab-Over Camper
Question:
I have a 2004 Eagle Cap 9.5 cab-over camper and would like to install your steps. The bumper is fiberglass and seems too fragile for screws. It has, in fact, cracked from a minor bump. I contacted the current manufacturer 2 maunufacturers from the ones that made mine and they believe the bumper is not a good idea. Do you have any advice for an alternate location? Is the hinges that attaches to the current swing step a possibility?

It is possible that the existing brackets for the step on the camper are sufficient in strength and area to install the TorkLift Glow Steps # TLA7505 if they are attached to the main frame of the camper. Otherwise you would want to reinforce the area just below the opening of the door.
There should be a cross member that goes across the width of the camper underneath near the door opening to support he weight of people going in and out of the camper. If there isn't you can add something in that area, whether it be a wood or steel beam, that is attached to the main frame of the camper. Ideally, a metal frame attachment point should be used.
