Can Weight Distribution be Used on an Aluminum Horse Trailer Towed by a Class A Motor Home
Question:
What kind of set up will I need to tow an aluminum 2 horse trailer with a 30 foot class A ford v10? I know the factory hitch is rated at 5000# so it will likely need to be up graded but any other recommendations?

To start, let's look at some hitches. To get a higher capacity hitch you will want to look at the weld-on truck hitches which I have linked to the right for you. These hitches have the higher capacities you need but none of them can be used with weight distribution.
For an actual RV hitch that can be used with weight distribution we have # C13701. It maxes out at 6,000 pounds when used with weight distribution. If this is enough to tow the trailer then you can use weight distribution with this hitch.
But another issue is the aluminum trailer. A lot of aluminum trailers cannot be used with weight distribution. You would have to contact the trailer manufacturer to make sure you can use weight distribution on that particular model trailer.
If you can use the Curt hitch rated at 6,000 pounds maximum and the trailer manufacturer says that you can use weight distribution then to choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
I have included some links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
