Will Installing a Sidewinder on My Holiday Rambler Alumascape Give Enough Clearance

Question:

I have a 2006 Dodge Mega Cab towing a Holiday Rambler Alumascape. The trailer has a Lippert 1116 pin box. This pin box is extended from the factory approx. 18. Will moving the pivot point give me enough clearance for turning with out hitting the cab?

We offer two sidewinder models that would be compatible with the Lippert 1116 pin box on your trailer. For a Holiday Rambler Alumascape fifth-wheel, the 16k sidewinder # RP61412 would work well.

There is a formula used to determine whether or not the sidewinder would give you enough clearance between the trailer and the cab on your 2006 Dodge Ram.

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A= Distance from center of fifth wheel hitch jaw to truck cab
B= Length of Sidewinder arm (22 inches)
C= Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half)

For example: If the distance from the center of the hitch to the cab is 36 inches, 36in + 22in = 58in. If your fifth wheel trailer is 102in wide, take half (51 inches), then plug in: 58in - 51in = 7in of clearance.
