ABSTORSEQ Timbren Active Off-Road Bump Stops - Rear Suspension - 6,000 lbs

Timbren's Active Off-Road Bumpstops provide off-road enthusiasts with greater control over their vehicle's suspension travel. Using progressive-rate springs means that instead of a hard stop at the end of axle travel, the axle energy will be absorbed when bottoming out, producing smooth, predictable, and quiet axle engagement and disengagement. The progressive rubber springs absorb the harsh jolt at the end of axle travel, giving you a gentle ride the whole time.

Unlike your factory bumpstops, Timbren's bumpstops are constructed of a superior natural rubber compound, ensuring the bumpstops will continue to operate even after a lifetime of off-road abuse. And the steel brackets and disks are lazer cut before they are painted with a durable, long-lasting powder coat finish to ensure protection and long life.

While towing my boat (2021 Tracker Pro Guide V-175/Mercury 115 ProXS, ~3,200lbs) in my 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium, I noticed a significant rear squat. Additionally, fellow motorists would flag me for “high beaming” when I was not. This squatting in the rear raised the front end and subsequent headlight alignment. After much research and review, I purchased the Timbren SES and installed it. With the vehicle hitch unloaded, the SES rides approximately 1.250” above the rear axel. With the boat loaded onto the hitch, the Timbren SES contacts the axel and holds the load firmly, maintaining a level vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the ride was not greatly effected. Matter of fact, the vehicle rides much better while towing than before installing the SES. With the 3rd row seating in use, and the vehicle full of passengers, the rear passengers complained of a very bumpy ride and I noticed a very rough feel with hard bumps from the rear. After installing the Timbren SES, even with the boat on the hitch and the vehicle fully loaded, my 4Runner remains level and the ride is substantially improved. If you have 3rd row seating and/or plan on towing ANYTHING with your 4Runner, you absolutely need the Timbren SES. Installation is a breeze. Easiest accessory you’ll ever upgrade.

2013 Toyota 4Runner

My 2013 4runner was squatting in the rear when I coupled my 6X12 motorcycle trailer. I was very happy to have found the Timbren bump stop to simply bolt on and fix the problem. However.....during the installation I noticed I had to use ALL of the adjustment slot on the unit to TRY to center on the rear axle. I oriented the units as far towards the rear as the adjustment would allow.
When I coupled my trailer to the 4runner it correctly forced the Timbren bump stop to contact the axle and this is where the problem is.
The Timbren bump stop CAN NOT be adjusted far enough towards the rear to accomplish a centering on the axle. There is a 25% overhang of the bump stop on the axle front. When I communicated with Timbren about this they said" it's a good installation and it's ok". It is not ok.
Imagine that all of the force of a fully loaded truck will be negotiating curves, potholes, swoops and other hazards of the road at highway speeds. All of this stress is distributed on 75% of the product. It can't work as well as if it was 100% distribution. I felt the product was overpriced to begin with. After paying a premium price I expected a custom proper fit.
I can't recommend this product for Toyota 4runner owners.

2019 Toyota 4Runner

I had no problems with the installation. It only took about 15 minutes to put these on! There is adjustment space on the brackets to let u be able to center product over rear axles. The pictures below show the product installed while my 4 runner is both raised up for installation and after lowering it down. When lowered down and jack removed I have about an inch clearance.

Fast shipping! Product as described.

Easy install, work great.

Great product. They offer progressive dampening and eliminate any harsh bottom outs. They pair very well with extended travel rear shocks. T4R SR5 4x4 with icon 3” overland rear springs and Fox 2.5” DSC shocks.

This product limits travel of the axle when you go over a speed bump or in a dip in the road. They replace the existing snubbers on the frame and extend down to within a half inch of the axle. It was an easy install with the tire removed and the car on jack stands. The replacement bolts go in the existing threaded connections. Start to finish was about 45 mins for me and I am no expert.

Once installed the car has a comfortable ride but speed bumps and pot holes have their bounce affect greatly reduced. I think these will improve my trailer towing future.

2019 Toyota 4Runner

I used this on a 2019 4Runner TRD PRO I go on long over landing trips and the fox suspension can be kind of soft at times when fully loaded with gear. This helped with sag and also the ride off-road when fully geared out on stock suspension.

Have been performing great, completely stopped rear bottoming out when pulling my trailer, a smother ride on ruff dirt roads

Ordered for my 2010 Toyota Tundra. Parts came quickly and had them installed in about 20 minutes. Just needed a good vehicle jack and impact wrench and was very easy. These have greatly reduced the sag when pulling my camper and very satisfied.

by:

Can't wait to pull my RV trailer again and see less squat in the backend of my Raptor!! These are going to make a difference.

by:

Easy install, Nissan Xterra. Love that it came with all the hardware because I had to knock all existing hardware out with a hammer and chisel. I used four additional washers I had so I could put one inside the frame and one on the bumpstop mount. Etrailer shipped fast and free, bumpstops arrived ahead of schedule. Highly recommend these mounts, night and day difference.

by:

The factory bump stops were harsh. These engage sooner and while firm they do not crash like the OEM.
Easy install.

by:

Very easy to install, haven't traveled with trailer yet but will be traveling in April.

by:

These do what they're built to do. I overland a lot so when the truck gets weighed down with gear she tends to squat a little and when I go through bumpy areas the factory stops would slam the frame. No any more with these Active Bump Stops. A much smoother ride and less body roll when cornering.

  • What Is Overall Height Of Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops TABSTORSEQ For 2013 Toyota 4Runner
The installation instructions state that the bump stops are installed with 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches of space between the rubber spring and the contact point on pick-up trucks and vans. That is the amount of travel before it makes contact and starts to cushion the ride. The total height of the system from the mounting plate to the bottom of the rubber spring is right at 5 inches.

  • Recommended Rear Suspension System For 2013 Toyota 4Runner For Towing And Off-Road Use
If you are planning on off-road travel with your 4Runner, I recommend the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops, part # TABSTORSEQ. These are designed to cushion the ride of your truck and absorb the shock when bottoming out when you are off-road as you said or when there is a load on the rear of your truck. When you install the Timbrens, the instructions state you want between 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches of clearance between the rubber spring and the contact point on your truck. This means you will...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2022 Toyota 4Runner
For improved off-road, I suggest going with the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops, # TABSTOF for the front and the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops, # TABSTORSEQ for the rear. Using Timbren's Active Off-Road Bumpstops provides greater control over the vehicle's suspension travel. The progressive rubber springs absorb the harsh jolt at the end of axle travel.

  • Is the Weight Capacity on # ABSTORSEQ Enough for 2016 Toyota Tundra Towing a 7,500 lbs Trailer?
The 6,000 lbs weight capacity listed for the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops # TABSTORSEQ is the vertical load limit of the bumpstops. When towing a trailer, the trailer weight is distributed between the trailer axle and the tow vehicle. The weight that is transferred to the tow vehicle is referred to as "tongue weight" and is usually about 10% - 15% of the gross trailer weight. You will never actually have the full 7,500 lbs of your trailer weight being transferred to your vehicle and...

  • Reducing Rear Sag on a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Both the SumoSprings # SS68DR and Timbren # TABSTORSEQ will help with the sag you are experiencing, however, I prefer the SumoSprings # SS68DR. This has to do with them increasing their stiffness with the the more weight that is added to them. This will keep the ride quality as close to stock as possible when not towing while still providing the support when needed. The Timbren # TABSTORSEQ is very similar to the SumoSprings, but is made with a more robust rubber. This will have better...

  • Suspension Enhancement Product for 2021 Toyota 4Runner Towing Travel Trailer
Given the 400 lb tongue weight you'll be dealing with, the Timbren # TTORSEQ which has a 6000 lb capacity would be your best choice. That being said, I'd recommend the # SS78DR SumoSpring instead. The SumoSprings # SS78DR have an 1800 lb capacity which would be plenty for the 400 lb tongue weight of your travel trailer, and are constructed of a more pliable material which would provide you plenty of support and a better ride quality when the system is under load.

  • Recommended Rear Suspension Enhancement for Towing and Off-Road Use for a 2018 Toyota 4Runner
If your 2018 Toyota 4Runner is a 4 wheel drive then I recommend using the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops # TABSTORSEQ which are rated for 6,000 lbs and were built specifically for towing and off-road use so they will hold up much better than other systems that we have to offer. For a 2018 4Runner that is a 2 wheel drive we have the Timbren Rear Suspension # TTORSEQ which is also rated for 6,000 lbs and will do a great job at helping with towing but they weren't built for off-road use...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for a 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD
I recommend using the Timbren jounce-style suspension enhancement for your 2020 Toyota 4Runner because it is a quick installation and once you're done there is absolutely no maintenance. Since no air has to be added these kits simply work when they are needed and you don't have to think about them. For standard use you need part # TTOFTAC4A for the front and part # TTORSEQ for the rear, but if you plan on going off-road you need part # TABSTOF for the front and part # TABSTORSEQ for the rear.

  • Timbren Front & Rear Bumpstop Options for 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser 4x4
The Expert Answer that you are referring to is for a 2012 Toyota Tundra 4x4. The 2012 Tundra has different rear bumpstops than your 2007 FJ Cruiser 4x4. The part # TABSTORSEQ that fits your Cruiser will not fit on the Tundra. Timbren offers a few different options for you to add some suspension enhancement for your Cruiser and it all depends on how you plan on using it. The Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops part # TABSTORSEQ which are a fit for a 2023 Toyota 4Runner are pretty similar to the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs like part # SS68DR. The Timbrens provide more support but the SumoSprings ride smoother. Therefore, it all comes down to preference and how you'll be using them. • Installing Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops on 2016 Toyota 4Runner with 1-1/2 Inch Lift
The Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops # TABSTORSEQ referenced in your question are confirmed to fit your 2016 Toyota 4Runner. As you mentioned, you should have 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inch gap between the rubber spring and contact point when the vehicle is empty. The closer to around 1 inch, the better. In order to maintain that gap with the 1-1/2 inch lift you have on your 4Runner, you can simply add a Timbren Spacer like the 1/2 inch # TA25722-90P00 or the 1 inch # A25723-90AH00 to close...
