A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for TorkLift Rear Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Installation - 2018 Ram 3500

Today in our 2018 Ram 3500, we're going to be installing Torque Lift's custom frame mounted camper tie downs for the rear. These camper tie down points will give you a secure place to hook up the turnbuckles for your camper to ensure it's secure to the bed of your truck. These tie downs are designed to work specifically with Torque Lift's super hitch, so you'll already need to have that installed. Now if you don't have a super hitch installed on your vehicle, you can find the most appropriate one using our fit guide here at eTrailer.com for your vehicle. The tie down arms can slide in and out, so when you're not using it, you can reduce the footprint they have on your vehicle. There's two holes, depending on the length that you need for your camper. Simply slide it in, lining up the holes, insert your pin and then lock it in. You want to make sure that your tie down points are facing the appropriate direction, so we've got our holes on top, and the offset towards the rear.If you frequently remove your arms, there's stickers that come included with your tie downs, so you can label them for quick re-installation, without having to worry that you're putting the wrong arm in the wrong hole.So we're going to remove these two bolts from our Super hitch, using a 3/4" socket wrench. We can then slide our receiver into our Torque Lift hitch, lining up the holes with the original.

You want to make sure this collar is facing toward the front. Now, if on your Super Hitch, the bolts didn't already have an adequate length of about 1/4" of the thread sticking out, you will need to use the bolts that come provided with your camper tie down. But since ours had plenty of threads, we're going to re-use the bolts we took out. We're just going to slide those back through, and slide our lock washers on, and re-install our nuts.We can now tighten and torque our hardware. We'll then torque it to the specifications found in our instructions. We can repeat that exact same process on the other side. And that completes our installation of Torque Lift's custom frame mounted camper tie downs for the rear on our 2018 Ram 3500..

3500 Mega Cab (short bed) 6.7 Turbo Ram & 2018 855s Lance. Needed to build a frame so side to side movement was minimized. The camper will sill walk back an inch or two but have a solution for that also. Torklift equipment is top notch and built to last. Works great!

These seem like a solid, well built product. Kind of a pain to install and the instruction manual could have been put together better but that’s just my two cents.

by: Stephen 04/27/2023

I added a Super Hitch to my truck so I had to replace the rear tie downs. Two bolts on each unit and easy to reach. Very well made and heavier than the torklift that were attached to the Ram hitch.

They work great

The only way to go. Buy once, cry once. There is simply no better, safer way to tie down your camper.

2017 Dodge Ram Pickup

I just bought a set of Torklift camper tie downs. (TLD2130 and TLD3109) for my 2017 RAM 3500. They are very easy to install with no problems. Torklift camper tie downs are the best in the industry. I have used them on my 1999 Superduty for years and they worked excellent. I would like to thank everybody at e-trailer and Torklift for all the help with Tech. questions and answers.

Thanks Again

2018 Dodge Ram Pickup

I called etrailer about these tie downs because our RAM is a 2018 model and there is currently no listing for TorkLift tie-downs for 2018 RAM trucks, either on eTrailer or on the TorkLift site.
eTrailer contacted TorklLift to ask if they are warranted to fit 2018 RAM trucks, but they were unable to confirm that.

Having just installed these on our 2018, I can now confirm it that they do indeed fit. There have been no dimensional changes to the 2018 models which affect the location these tie-downs are designed to fit, so they install just fine.

It does take a few minutes to comprehend the instructions and get the parts sorted and ready to go, but once that's figured out these tie-downs bold right on to the forward spring hangar without any fuss at all.
I had been told they were a pain to install, but that was not my experience. I had both front tie downs installed and tightened slightly more than an hour, and that was laying under the truck on a gravel driveway.

Very heavy duty product and a perfect fit.
