Fulton Brake Winch-Brake Set

Technical BulletinSUBJECT/Summary: Upon installation of your product, raise the load. If the ratchet pawl is clicking while raising the load, the brake is confirmed as operating properly. If the ratchet pawl does not click, lower the load without letting go of the handle and set the brake. The brake can be set by holding a flat edge screwdriver between the drum gear and the top of the pinion gear and turning the handle slowly in a clockwise motion until the pinion gear rotates freely. This process can be performed after the winch is installed on equipment. Typically this is a once-and-done fix for a perceived functional issue. In the application of your winch, a minimum line load will activate the brake automatically, with each use.
