When searching for an aftermarket Bestop Jeep soft top, identifying the existing hardware on your vehicle is an important step in deciding what kit to purchase. Some Jeep soft tops are designed to fit over your factory-original hardware, some over previously-purchased aftermarket hardware and some come with all the hardware required for the installation.

Identifying Your Hardware for 1986 and Newer Jeeps

Examine the following pictures for your specific year, make and model to determine if you have the factory-original hardware, Bestop aftermarket hardware or hardware from another manufacturer. If your hardware does not match any of the provided pictures, it is not a Bestop or factory-original system, and installation of a Bestop aftermarket top may require the purchase of an entire soft top kit, rather than just a fabric replacement.

For Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-current) models with 2 doors

Factory-Original/Replace-A-Top Hardware

Factory-original hardware is sufficient to install a Bestop Replace-A-Top or Sailcloth Replace-A-Top.

Bestop Supertop Hardware

Bestop Supertop hardware is an aftermarket application. To replace the fabric soft top, purchase of a Supertop Replacement Skin is required.

For Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-current) models with 2 doors

Factory-Original/Replace-A-Top Hardware

Factory-original hardware is sufficient to install a Bestop Replace-A-Top or Sailcloth Replace-A-Top.

If the hardware on your Jeep does not look like any of the above pictures - and is 1986 or newer - then you do not have factory-original or Bestop hardware installed. Kits for owners without factory-original or Bestop hardware include Tigertop for models 1941-1986, Supertop for models 1955 and newer, Sunrider for models 1976-2006 and Trektop for models 1997 and newer.

Unfortunately, we don't offer any replacement soft top hardware for the CJ series Jeeps. I wish we had better news for you.

I have a 2000 TJ, and it currently has a Pavement Ends top manufactured in 2007, The header has a groove for the top to insert to, has a front flip back and 2 bows in the rear to the tub. Any idea on the frame type ?

Hi I have a sort top and I was wondering what model it will fit .there’s a serial # on it it 543562 SHiFT 1 it says in it , it might not be complete also there’s another part # 55395757AE.

The 55395757AE part you mentioned is for an OEM Jeep soft top. What model year is your Jeep? Is it the 2 door, or the 4 door Wrangler Unlimited?

There’s no name on top but it’s from original 1999 Jeep Wrangler so I’m assuming would need original hardware to work or be compatible

Then it probably is an original soft top.... You would need to see a jeep dealer to get the factory hardware.

What type of hardware do I need for my 1999 Jeep Wrangler sport? Currently it has a hardtop with solid doors. We have a soft top for year 1999 but we don’t have hardware.

Do you know what brand of soft top it is? They all use different hardware.
