Does not fit over the tire even though our tire size is listed.

So, what is the year, make, and model of your vehicle? I will also need to know the size of your tires, before I can help you.

by: Benjamin03/06/2024

Took over a year for a sufficiently snowy day to come, but these tire socks were quite straightforward to install. Didn't notice excessive slipping around while driving.

by: Christopher02/05/2023

I live in Dallas, TX so we don’t get snow but ice and sleet and available a couple times a year. I put these on my Subaru Outback and was able to drive around the local neighborhood streets that were iced over. Stopping went well a and starting did not have any wheel spin.

by: Douglas02/28/2018

Not impressed with this product at all. If you are driving on snow, meaning absolutely no pavement or rough surface, they may be useful... but a short distance after the chain requirement point mine were shredded and all but useless.

by: Michael12/11/2017

While I have not yet utilized the tire socks, the biggest reason to have them is simply to be compliant with the law where chains must be carried. For that purpose the product is perfect! Super light weight and far less of a hassle than dealing with steel cables or chains.

by: Andy C.02/06/2017

Living in Arizona we don't have a lot of use for these when we do need them it is critical that they can go on easily and work. This is one of the few places I could send my tire size and have the unit match pacifically for my tires which gives me peace of mind knowing that when I do have to use them they will fit.

by: Michael M.12/30/2017

Terrible decision to get these. They were supposed to fit on my tires (based on the specs). When I needed them in a bad snowstorm, I could not go more than 20 MPH. They would slide off one side or the other. I was blocking traffic trying to get them to stay on. Had to nurse the car without these or chains to an auto shop and buy a set of cables that fit. Had to go over the I-80 Donner Summit from Truckee and would not have made it with these "snow socks". I would be happy to sell these once used socks for half of what I paid for them.

by: Ian 01/04/2023

Great customer service and answered my questions within 5 minutes and then clarified further questions quickly. I was unaware of this product and it saved me having to get snow tires for a one time trip

by: Karen 11/06/2022

Snow socks arrived in great condition. Actually hoping I don't have to use them, but nice to know I've got them in the event of a "snow or ice weather event"! Great service, product, and shipping.

by: Bill12/02/2021

Watch the sizing folks. The web site said to get size 74 for our 225/60/18 tires but when they arrived, the size chart on the package said size 70 was needed. I hope this was fixed on the web site. etrailer was very good about understanding the problem and returning the original package, sending me a pre-paid return label for the UPS guy. I ordered the new ones after they received the originals and credited my account. Easily a five star rating if it were not for the step of returning and reordering.

We bought tire socks for our Subaru because the owners manual says NOT to use chains. But, when snowing in the mountains of Oregon, chains are sometimes required. We'll probably be fine without, being all wheel drive, but the police don't think so. There are hefty fines for driving without at least having chains in your possession.

by: John P02/22/2023

Needed snow traction in a hurry, and etrailer came through for us.

by: Tim11/06/2017

I would like to say great but I have not needed them. Ran into snow several times last yr but my XC90 just plowed thru without a problem. I have a friend who used them last yr - took about 5 min to put them on and we had good traction in icy hardpack. I still keep them in the car just in case. Would not be without them.

by: Rodney09/27/2018

Purchased for the safety of traveling through mountains out west. Have to have it in slippery conditions or state patrol won’t let you proceed. Light to pack, easy stowage, relatively easy to install, but unlike chains is tough fabric. Unsure how effective they work as we did not have need to use. More of insurance to have than not.

by: Steven12/22/2017

I haven't had a chance to use the product, but I did test the fit and they certainly install easy enough. I occasionally have to drive from the coast over the mountains to into the valley and during the winter we are required by law to carry chains or something similar on 2-wheel drive vehicles...and the storms can come seemingly out of nowhere in the high elevations...so now I am prepared. The construction of these is very good.

Not to mention, the customer service from etrailer was very good. Initially there was a slight problem with the delivery date, but they managed to rectify that without any problems. Thank you.

by: Pittsburgh01/26/2022

Wow. I was hoping these would work as reviewed and they did! Living on a hill, these socks saved me from sliding all the way home. My tires lost traction on a snowy hill; I pulled over and relatively quickly (and easily!) slipped the snow covers over my tires. Once on, I completed my drive down the snow covered road in control. My husband's going to get a pair (he was impressed how well they worked) and I plan to get these for my adult children. Well worth the cost and peace of mind knowing I have these in my car.

by: Christine 11/08/2019

First, these are for a trip in January, so I have not used them yet, but what I can say at this point is that I'm very happy to have found something that will work on my Forester which has no clearance for chains or most cables. The Forester is great for snow, but nothing is great on black ice, so these will provide some added safety if needed. Etrailer's excellent online guidance led me to these. Thank you.

by: Ronald12/19/2022

They work good, this is my second set. If they rip can they be repaired?

by: David02/18/2022

I have not used the product yet, but they look exactly as represented on the website. Small enough to keep in the trunk storage compartment through the winter. Etrailer had them shipped and delivered within 3 days. Always great service!

by: Catharina01/26/2023

Delivered on time.hope I never have to use them, if I do will update you on how they worked.

by: Timothy 01/08/2022

I ordered these just to have on hand as we prepare for a winter trip to the southwest. I can't really testify as to how they work because I have yet to use them but etrailer is once again a pleasure to work with.

by: Kat K03/22/2019

This review is for the basic ordering of the product. We haven't needed to use the snow socks yet so can't comment on the product. We were able to order and receive the items with ease and in a timely fashion. We received what we ordered. YAY

by: Jim O02/02/2017

Five star is for the service I received and the fact that the product arrived in a timely manner and fit as advertised. I tried them on the car and they were a piece of cake to install.

by: George 12/15/2022

Shipping arrived exactly when predicted.

by: Carl12/15/2016

Keeping these in my trunk for emergencies - good insurance policy.

by: Frank E09/15/2018

Have not used them often but, they do the job. Not used them in deep snow either.
So far no complaints and they do not require lots storage area. My mini is short on space.

Super easy install if you read the instructions
which
i highly recommend.
Delivery was seamless these people actually do what they say.

I use your product when I transport my dirty bike on the back of my Jeep. It does its job very well of keeping the bike from sweating or bouncing around.

Still working excellently

by: Logan10/30/2019

I purchased this product to use on my SxS and it worked like a charm. Rattle is completely absent at the hitch. I was initially shocked at the quality of this product. It's heavy steel, which makes me confident it will last for decades. I would highly recommend for any hitch application.

by: Craig11/21/2023

Have not used it yet George

by: Joseph 04/12/2023

I think this feature should be incorporated in all your hitch assemblies

by: James04/22/2016

I received the stabilizer very quickly. I have not had an opportunity to use it yet, but I have checked it out on the hitch to make sure it fit correctly. It fit just as described and the receiver hitch is very tight. I think it will work great. It will be tested in a few weeks as we are headed out on a 1400 mile trip.

James

4/23/2017

During that trip that we were on, the bracket fell apart. Would not recommend this item at all

by: Hitch silencer11/09/2014

After modifications this did finally fit and hopefully it will work. I asked you folks to make sure it fit correctly and was assured that it did. Well that is not the case. Had I not been as handy working with metal this would have been a very different outcome. The part in question was rubbing against the chain anchor loop and would not fit or tighten correctly. Wanted to send it back but modified it instead. Not real happy about being assured that this fits and then does not !! You folks could do better in my humble opinion.

Thanks for your review. Just checked my 08 Ram 3500 stock hitch, and yup, 1 behind the mouth of the hitch are the chain loop anchors. It appears this product doesnt fit. Its a shame they do not give the dimensions from the ring edge to the edge beyond the wing bolts. How did you modify?

by: Michal03/26/2019

I have been looking for a product to better secure our bike racks behind our 5th wheel. This should do the job.

by: Jimmy 05/03/2020

The Brophy stabilizer bracket completely eliminated the annoying trailer hitch rattle. Very pleased.

Jimmy

5/3/2021

Great! Love the fact that the hitch doesn’t rattle when you go over speed bumps, etc.

by: Sly04/04/2017

This is a good device if you are using it on exactlhy 2" square tubing, but it will not fit over the knurled edge of an extension piece where the extender is 2" but the knurl is ¼ thiskce.

Sly

4/4/2018

I quit using it and just use a ratchet strap. It was difficult to use.

by: David G.03/01/2017

The piece is made well, and could conceivably work, but the problem is that our trailer hitch (the receiver, on our car) has a lip around the edge of it. This piece does not fit around it, so it is pretty much useless. I have looked around and saw that pretty much all other hitches have the same lip, so this device is useless for all hitches. If it could fit on a hitch that didn't have a lip, then I think it would be a good device, but I haven't seen any hitch that this.

by: Joe W03/04/2020

This device made pulling my 35 foot trailer much better. I did not realize how the small amount of movement in the ball hitch amplified to make the trailer feel as if it were swaying. With this device, that is all gone.

The only problem I had with the device was the tightening bolts. They are soft and mushroomed after extended use of the device. I replace them with hardened bolts and have not had any issues since.

by: vantagati09/01/2016

I have BOTH the "J-Pin" and this anti-shake thing to stop the shaking in my Yakima Swing out 4 bike carrier. My bike rack is an older model so it maybe slightly heavier than the newer versions. This anti-shake will NOT stop your shaking. It will "reduce" the shaking. I think for this to actually STOP the shaking those tightening screws would have to go thru the steel wall of the hitch and be in direct contact with the rack itself. Would drilling into your receiver weaken it? Perhaps. But I'm not towing a yacht so...But I wouldn't recommend it.
The torque the carrier/bike rack puts on the receiver hitch is what challenges products like this. So if you want to reduce the swing then get this thing. If you want to stop the rock this is not the pop.

by: Ram150006/25/2016

Unfortunately I could not use this on a 2015 Ram 1500. The adjustment bolts just did not fit the profile of the Ram's hitch.
I think one can be made to fit the Ram's hitch but it would need to have the bolts in a different location.
From what I could tell, this is a solid product. Tried it on a older hitch, just for sizing, and it it looks like it would be able to stabilize any reasonable loads.
It's a great idea and a well made product. It just did not fit my applications.

by: John M09/18/2017

The T-wire harness was great, installed well and works fine.
The Seat covers are great as well, durable and easy to install, will consider rear seat covers if available?
The stabilizer bracket would not work with my platform rig, but looked of good quality and I will find a use for it.

by: Scott 09/28/2022

Good product. Definitely reduced the noise when towing. As always, you need to check the tightness of the two screws and the locking nuts every trip and when you stop for gas.

by: Hugh08/03/2018

Good idea. But application limited to smaller trailers. Not appropriate for large trailers w/ tongue weights of 800/1000 LBS and GVW around 10,000 LBS.

My experience was:1) the plastic twist knobs broke; 2) and both the set bolts bent so as to make them unusable to loosen the bracket. I had to cut the bolts off with a hack saw.

by: Janey09/01/2018

We received it today. Hit a snag though, we have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and the item will not fit. The two rings (part of the hitch) that the trailer safety chains connect to obstruct the piece at the bottom and will not let it slide up flush with the hitch receiver so that it can be tightened. If those rings were not so close I know it would work perfectly. So - we have an RV mechanic that does all of our work and we will review this with him and see if he can make a change on the hitch rings that would allow us to use this product. It's not the product that is the problem it is the make of our hitch.

by: Kirk10/26/2017

I purchased this to use on my hitch on my camper bumper to take the movement out of the carrier that I use. The way the stabilizer bracket is designed it will only slide over the hitch a small amount (the bracket hits against the hitch). It took most of the up and down movement out of the carrier, but did little for the side to side. This would work very well if I had more clearance. However, I have 3 hitches (one on an f250, one on a ranger, and one on the camper) and I only have enough clearance on one of the three hitches for this to work effectively. On the other 2 the brackets that a tow chain attaches to interferes with the mounting of the stabilizer. I would recommend this to those who have at least 1.5 inches of hitch for the stabilizer to slide over. If you have less it will not work very effectively.

by: Good !quality11/08/2018

I was not able to fit on my hitch receiver because the receiver is too close to the rear bumper. I will have to consider the U-bolt type.

If you do not have enough clearance for the anti-rattle part # RHSB I recommend a roadmaster quiet hitch for 2 inch hitches part # RM-061. The way the quiet hitch is angled while in use should not interfere with your bumper.

by: Tom S.05/09/2019

Well made, heavy duty. Solved problem of trailer swaying and clunking when starting and stopping. Takes the little play out of the receiver hitch.

by: Josh B07/06/2020

Close to a 5 star, the reason for 4 stars is due to the plastic t handles to tighten. If you want it to stop rattling you need to use channel locks to tighten the “T” handles and after a year the plastic wears. For the price I would just buy another once they wear completely out.

by: Leonard Ruiz06/06/2016

I use this product in order to secure a bike rack that was driving me crazy every time I used it. The hitch accessory eliminate the noise and has sit up to multiple 300 mile plus road trips.

by: Joseph05/07/2018

I could only static test this at present. I have considerable play in the original unit. I placed this unit on and tightened the bolts. There was absolutely no movement after that. It will get its true test on my next 5,000 mile trip.

I did read that a couple of people had a problem with the lock nut working loose. That is an area which would be prone to coming loose. So, I added a stainless steel lock washer between the lock nut and the flat washer for a little extra security.

Several people had an issue with the bolts landing on the raised lip of their hitch receiver. However, on my F-150, it goes over the lip and tightens on the flat metal. That makes a secure connection.

by: John C.07/03/2017

Had to take it to work and have them modify it to work with my Blue Ox hitch. Beefed it up with 1/2" bolts thet did away with the hand tightening. Now when I arrive to my destination everything is tight.
