As the video indicates, ensure that your vehicle wiring is the same as the 7 blade definitions. Mine was not. Had to determine what color wire connections to use for a 4 flat adapter use on a dolly.

Service from erailer is always quick and efficient. The one time an incorrect product was shipped, the company beat a path to my door to get the right item into my hands. Every experience with them has been 100% positive. Great folks!

by: Kudda Dux12/23/2013

The convert in the trailer quit, I needed 12V ASAP and didn't have the wherewithal at the time to replace it. So, I mounted the socket on a piece of wood and hooked-up just the ‘battery-in’ (black) and neutral (white) terminals. I wrapped each lead around a couple of old fence post insulators. I clipped my battery charger to those. I plugged in the trailer and turned on the charger. Now the status display in the trailer shows the batteries charging. It saved me from exposing and charging the batteries in this rotten weather.

by: CaptRon12/21/2016

Installed this on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, which never had one nor a kit to do it. I needed trailer lights, 12v power and brake control for a Coleman camper I pull. Has worked reliably for a year now.

by: Michael 02/07/2024

Works like it is supposed too.

Just what I needed and at a great price

by: Roy07/24/2017

I ordered all the parts required to safely flat tow out 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk from etrailer.com. The only part they didn't have was the Mopar Flat Tow Enhancement kit Jeep requires to flat tow this model.

Ordering from them was great, the website is easy to use and I was able to locate all the pieces compatible with my specific vehicle. The expert recommendations help my decision choosing the right parts. I ordered from etrailer even though I found some of the parts on other websites a little cheaper. I chose to pay a little more because of all the effort etrailer has put into installation videos and guides. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn from etrailer that they have a price match guarantee!

So my equipment consisted of the following

Mopar Flat Tow Enhancement Kit (from Jeep)

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles

Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Style Trailer Connector - Trailer End

WesBarg 7-Way, RV-Style Connector w/ 6' Long Coiled Cable Trailer End

Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV Blade-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End

Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System

Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles

Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar - Motor Home Mount - 6,500 lbs

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms

Blue Ox Tow Bar Cover - Aladdin, Aventa LX, Aventa II

The installation videos are great but not all inclusive. Take the time to read the instructions that come with the parts. This is a major project, I took about 30 hrs over a full week but as you'll see in the pictures I took s few extra steps to make a cleaner look.

Some of those extra steps:

The base plate install requires the bumper be modified cutting off a flange on each side, I spray painted this to prevent corrosion.

In the install video of the baseplate on the drivers side they use an extra quick link (not included) to run the safety cable around the wiper fluid reservoir. I took the time to remove it and run the safety cable behind it.

I didn't want our nice new vehicle to look like it can be towed so I played the brake away switch and 7 way trailer plug behind the license plate, so when not being towed our vehicle looks great!

Some things to be aware of. The Brake air cylinder that mounts to the brake pedal with four bolts may need longer bolts, it did on our Jeep. Spend the money for weather tight heat shrink crimp fittings. The Hopkins wire harness was about 1.5 feet short to get to my plug location. Buy extra zip ties, electrical tape and split loom.

I recommend reading all the various installation manuals and watching all the videos because the various components integrate together and if you install one at a time you'll be doing a bunch of extra work.

The brake light relay is a real pain in the butt, not because of the hardware but because of the location of the brake light switch which is very hard to get to.

Overall I am very happy with the products and how the installation looks. We haven't towed it yet but do not expect any problems.

Still very happy with our purchase. We’ve towed over 10k miles and have had zero issues with our tow setup. I’ve shared my experience with several other RVrs and recommended your company for their needs. Thank you

7 Pin Trailler ConnectorsI ordered the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket - Vehicle End, and the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector - Trailer End to re-wire a Lance camper to vehicle connector.

I am going to adde the Vehicle End to the Lance camper and make a male-to-male pigtail that will plug into the vehicle and into the Lance camper.

The reason I am doing this is because I once forgot to unplug from the vehicle, and I ripped the wires out of the camper. The process to plug and unplug the wires is to back about 80% under the camper, plug in the connectors, then back the rest of the way under.

Once I rewire with the purchased connectors, I will be able to back all the way under the camper, preventing the problem of stopping at 80% both when loading and unloading.

The color coded Pollack connectors make the job of wiring easier.

I purchase all my trailer needs from eTrailer. Their service is always top notch.

Ordering process was very easy and my order shipped quickly. Ordered 2 of these and when I received them they were not the same. One was nice, the other (in my mind) was cheap and flimsy. I was happy with one and disappointed with the other. One I would have given 4 stars and the other one 2 stars. I would not order again unless I knew I was getting the nicer unit in the video I watched. I would also like to comment on the video and wiring instructions. I wired it like it suggested in the video, I had no clue there were different ways to wire a RV and utility trailer. The video and product page described RV wiring. Had to take it all apart and rewire it for my utility trailer. Crazy why they are not the same. My 2012 Ram truck, 2002 Dodge, and every trailer I have owned or pulled (no RV trailers) were all wired the same. etrailer.com assumes you are going to be using a RV I guess.

Thanks for your business and your review, Jeff. The connector is an RV blade-style trailer socket and is color-coded to RVI standards - we recommend testing for function before connecting.

The cover on the cheap and flimsy version broke after about 3 uses. I would not purchase this product again unless I knew I was getting the nicer version. The nicer version is doing great, no issues with it so far. I emailed the company about the broken cover, but I did not receive a response.

Perfect item if you run LED lights on your trailer and your vehicle detects bulb(s) out

by: Jerry A. 04/17/2019

Had my local service station mount it to the front of my RAM 3500. Allows Electric brakes to release when pushing boat trailer into storage using front of truck. Technician added a separate switch to active backup lights.
Works great.
Thanks

The part is heavy duty and a good replacement. The terminals are color coded, the green terminal turned out to be the brown wire. Check each terminal to verify they connected correctly. When I put the right turn Signal on, the tail lights came on and right turn signal was dim. Switched the brown wire to the green terminal and green to the brown terminal and worked correctly.

This is a common problem folks run into when working on 7-way trailer wiring. Traditional SAE wiring code uses a Green wire for the right turn and brake signal, while RV Standard wiring code uses Green for the tail and running lights. This PK12-707E connector is coded to RV Standard, while your vehicle uses Traditional SAE wiring. I have linked a help article with more information on these wiring codes for you.

by: Raymond 08/29/2023

Exactly as described, exactly what I ne eded.

by: Jim W.06/05/2014

I purchased this as a replacement for the exact same model. Haven't installed it yet but will before winter strikes. I live in Michigan and typically get 5 - 6 years out of them before the door spring weakens and the innards corrode. The price is right so I don't mind replacing them occasionally. I use dielectric grease inside and lots of good electrical tape & wire loom around the external wiring. That seems to prevent corrosion, at least until the spring goes.

by: C. S. Billings10/10/2013

Not as easy to wire as in the video. Need to really make the wires short so will fit back inside. The wire (DW04914) did not want to slide back through the grommet and pulled it out. Had to lubricate to get it to slide through. I decided not use this product but opted to use the 4' Pigtail Wiring Harness to repair my 7-Pole RV Ford Socket. The wiring harness code is PK11998. It plugs in directly to my OEM Ford socket.

by: Chip Rivers09/12/2014

These connectors were high quality by a known manufacturer. I could have bought them locally but I wouldn't have gotten the expert advice and detailed information that I was able to get from eTrailer!. I talked to several people and each one was very knowledgeable. When the parts arrived, it surprised me because they came so quickly! I would readily order from them again if I needed more trailer parts. I used these connectors to adapt a Minn-Kota trolling motor to my fishing kayak and have attached some pictures showing it installed.

by: Keith05/20/2020

I have ordered several items from etrailer over the years, from leaf springs, to tail lights, hitch receiver and connectors. Always happy with quality, price and speed of delivery.

by: Jeremy 01/12/2023

Several orders from etrailer. All have been accurate and delivered promptly.

by: Ken P.11/10/2015

I bought this and plan to hook it up to a PC power supply to make a test harness for a Habitat for Humanity trailer I am restoring for them. I had done the welding, but need to fix the wiring and put new lights on it before I put on the new deck. I don't want to tie up one of their trucks for testing it so I am making a tester (helps to be an EE). The unit was inexpensive, but appears to be very well made. I was surprised that it has a real cable strain relief feature at this price. I would recommend that once you have it installed, you fill in the end with epoxy or silicon caulking to keep water out if you mount it under the bumper..

by: Cris T.05/19/2011

The trailer socket received was exactly the right replacement part. It arrived very promptly and in perfect condition. It was helpful to have the tracking link so we could anticipate its arrival.
Note: be sure to mount the wires in the correct alignment, otherwise a fuse will blow or you will experience an electrical arc between the socket pin and the trailer pin. The two alignment screws on each side of the socket hold the wire harness in position; the harness can inadvertantly be installed upside down if you are not careful to keep track of the correct wire alignment.

by: Martin 08/21/2023

Seems great. Time will tell

My original equipment had reached its life. This allowed me to get rid of a 4-way to 7-way connector.

by: Clyde 02/28/2024

It was exactly what it said it was. Perfect replacement.

by: Tom05/20/2023

Nice upgrade for a 2002 Escalade. It’s just so bulky I cannot fit a locking hitch pin anymore.

by: James 08/31/2023

Very pleased with etrailer, but product not as sturdy as original equipment.

by: Brandon08/16/2022

Item was a perfect replacement for the one I broke.

by: Aaron05/26/2016

Easy installation. It took less than five minutes to install and it works great. I installed it on my 2004 Chevy 2500 HD.

by: Curt11/02/2022

This is the wrong wiring conector. Sent 40920 which is a twist lock. The one I need got the lock clips on the side. You just push in and it snaps in. Need dual 7 blade and 4 flat. What do you want me to do?

Etrailer Expert

Jenny N.

11/5/2022

You mentioned that you needed a dual 4 and 7 adapter that clicks in. I believe the connector that you are looking for is part # HM40975. Which is a replacement that would fit a 2021 GMC Sierra.

by: Lee05/30/2019

I bought this to replace the OEM part. Fit in the original bracket no problem. Works great. Especially like the 7 way/4 way connectors. No need for an adapter.

Lee S.

5/31/2020

One year later and still works fine!

by: Ernest 09/01/2020

Nice product. Kind of a sloppy fit for my factory 2005 Avalanche hitch though. The 7 pin connector doesn't pin out correct but the 4 pin does so I'll go with that.

Ernest L.

9/2/2021

Wasnt a perfect fit, somewhat loose but still hanging in there. I like the dual connectors, eliminates the use of an adapter.

8/4/2021

It was easy to install. Was exact fit for my 2006 Duramax. The 2 plug design is just what I needed, no more adapters required from hooking to any of my trailers. Item was delivered on time and without issue thanks to etrailer. Great job folks.

by: Erin06/24/2023

They worked perfectly and I received them in shorter time than anticipated which kept my project in forward motion

by: Jonathan04/03/2018

Install was a breeze. I’ve used the 4 pin flat connector and it worked perfectly. No more adaptor for me.

Jonathan

4/3/2019

Recently purchased a trailer with 7 pin round connector and trailer brakes. The connector worked perfectly with the truck and trailer without needing any re-wiring

by: glenha09/03/2018

This was a perfect fit. I wish the website would have come up with this as the right one for my Suburban, and have notified them of this.
Went in easy and seems to be a perfect replacement for the broken one. As always, great customer serivice and a good product.

Glenha

9/3/2019

After a year, it still works great. Better than the OEM part, much sturdier and has the 4-flat connector built-in.

by: Mason06/05/2018

Still functions as intended. The 4 way has been convenient because I don't need to carry an adapter anymore.

Mason

6/5/2019

I have used this 7 way and 4 way many times it is durable and will last many years.

by: Jeff C.03/15/2019

I routinely tow a couple of different trailers. One has a 7 way connector, and another has a 4 way connector. I kept misplacing my 7 to 4 converter, so I purchased this as a direct replacement for my Yukon's factory connector. While it's nice to have the 7 way and 4 way there all the time, the plug fits a little bit loose in the factory socket. It should work fine, I just wish it fit in there tighter.

by: Seanh05/09/2020

I bought this for a base model 09 Silverado. Twists in place by the license plate for a clean look, ease of use, and no more dangling pig tail. I bought this for the 4-pin to use with my boat. I’d recommend this to any and everyone with an 09 Silverado

by: Ken 07/23/2021

This connector was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted an "all in one unit" for my 7-way and flat 4 connections because of the problems associated with using a connector converter. This has worked out great.

by: David G05/04/2019

This has been the easiest trailer receptacle to install & the best one I have used. It’s nice not having to use a 4 way adapter!

by: Michael H08/31/2017

This is the product GM should have installed... I received this piece and had it installed in 30 seconds.
Twist out and unplug original 7 blade connector, plug in harness and twist in this one... never look for your 7 to 4 adapter again.
Good quality piece with gaskets and hinges that are far more robust than many of the competitors.

by: Lawrence11/25/2017

Great product !Fit my 2009 trailblazer perfect. Installed under a minute

by: Nic 07/16/2021

Exactly what I need works perfectly for all types of trailer wiring. Perfect plug and play for my 2008 GMC Acadia.

by: Harry03/29/2018

Easy plug and play, could be a little snugger fitting, but not a problem.
Recommend.

Rapid reply from etrailer when wrong unit ordered. Nice receptacle, competitive price, fairly rapid shipping. Great online support.

by: Mikeyd02/26/2016

A direct replacement for my truck. Only problem i encountered was the spring tang broke will i was test fitting the mount. I plan on purchasing another to put on my wife's Suburban. I'll be extra careful when I install that one.
