This is because the lift gate has to go up and down on the frame and is typically folded where the receiver will sit. Depending on how everything is mounted and the length of your chassis you may be able to still use a receiver like the Curt # C59CR with an Extension # C45048. You would have to mount the receiver in front of the lift gate and then insert and remove the extension when needed.
