The 4-pole connector at the end of your trailer wiring harness can certainly be zip tied, but using an installation bracket like part # 18144 along with a no drill mount like part # 18140 is recommended for a clean looking installation.

I may be able to help you a little bit here, but unfortunately we have no way of knowing the color, and the color of the wire is not always an indicator of what the function is. The only way is going to be to test it, but you should be able to narrow it down by tracing the wires coming off the brake pedal. You may want to try something like the Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979 or Hook Probe Circuit Tester # PTW2993 to help make it easier to test the wire. view full answer...
