To increase the amperage rating of the brake controller power circuit of your 2018 Mercedes GLS for the # C51170 you'll have to bypass the vehicle wiring by running 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) from the black wire of the controller directly to the vehicle battery. 15 amps really isn't enough for any brake controller to activate trailer brakes. view full answer...
So there are really only a pair of differences at base between the Thule Motion XT and Thule Force XT rooftop cargo boxes. One is the aesthetic, with the Force XT having a textured, flat black finish, while the Motion XT has a high-gloss black finish. Which one you like more comes down to personal preference as there isn't an advantage to having one over the other.
The other difference is the locking system; the Motion XT has what Thule calls a SlideLock system that automatically locks... view full answer...

The Replacement Support Arm Assembly for Lippert 63" Short Awning part # LC97UD does not come with the motor or any wiring, you'll need to transfer the motor and wiring from your old arms. These arms can indeed be used on both the drive and idler sides.
I have attached the wiring guide below for your reference. view full answer...
The 7-Way to 5-Way/4-Way Trailer Adapter # C35FR will prevent the error light when towing a trailer with LED tail lights behind your 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS. It will also allow for a trailer with incandescent lights to also work so you will not need a 2nd adapter. view full answer...
Actually, the Hollywood Racks Destination platform-style bike rak you'd looked at, part # HR4000 would be a great choice for carrying the bikes you described at a pretty reasonable price. If you click the provided link, you can see my buddy Hayden demonstrating the rack. As you can see in the video, 4 bikes of varying sizes and types fit pretty well on the rack.
When loaded, there will be about 8 inches separating each bike, and you'll want to alternate the direction of every other loaded... view full answer...
Based on the diagram you provided it appears you will need a ball mount that is not more than 7-1/2" long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, and has between a 2-3/4" drop and a 2" rise.
For a ball mount that falls in that range we have the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7.5K # C45534 which measures 7-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, and has either a 2" rise or 3/4" drop.... view full answer...
If you're not getting a light on the LED whatsoever, it indicates that the unit isn't getting power through the trailer connector. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the pin in the 1:00 position in your 7-way trailer connector. If the connector isn't getting power on that pin, there's likely a fuse missing in the power distribution box in the engine compartment. You're looking for the 'Trailer 12V' or 'Trailer Charge' circuit. A fuse panel diagram wasn't shown in the online owner's... view full answer...
While Thule does offer their Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier Adapter # TH9033 for a Hanging Bike Rack # TH9024XT, they do not have an attachment for a T2 # TH9036XT. If you do not have a roof rack for the Carrier # TH732508 you might consider the SeaSucker # SEA46ZR which will use its vacuum cups to secure to your roof. view full answer...
I looked up the towing capacity for your 2022 Mercedes GLS 450 and it looks like it can tow up to 7,700 lb which is higher than what your trailer weighs so you have the capacity for it but I wasn't able to find anything on whether a weight distribution system could be used. I looked at the factory hitch design and it doesn't look like one that is normally not WD rated. But beside that point is fact that aluminum trailers typically are not rated for use with WD systems so I can't safely... view full answer...
The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR will work for your 2019 Mercedes GLS450. I like this controller because the main unit will be installed out of sight with only the control knob showing, which will give your Mercedes-Benz a nice factory look. To install the Redarc controller you will need to remove the factory brake control port and hardwire the controller. There is not a plug and play pigtail available at this time. view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13190 has not been confirmed to fit a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS as of yet (August 2023), but we do have an alternative option from Stealth Hitches if you have the GLS580:
- Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH49MR
If you don't have the GLS580 model please let me know what you're needing the hitch receiver for and I'll be more than happy to see if we have any other options to help you out! view full answer...
For your 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 you need the following kit:
- Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit # SH24GR
This comes with a 2" receiver for accessories, a ball mount with a 2" hitch ball, and wiring to get a 7-Way connection installed. Please note this will only fit your GLS 450 if it does NOT have the AMG Exterior Package.
Since it sounds like you'll be towing a heavier trailer I recommend installing a brake controller too. The Curt Echo In-Line Wireless... view full answer...
We have the Curt Echo Mobile Wireless brake controller part # C51180 which would work great with your 2022 Mercedes Benz GLS 450 that has a factory 7-way. Basically you'd just need to plug this into the 7-way and once synced to your smart phone would be ready to go without any wiring. This is a proportional brake controller too which means it senses how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes and applies the same to your trailer. view full answer...
Yes the Kuat Sherpa # SH22G will work with your 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS with the factory hitch, no adapter needed. If you wanted to get more ground clearance and create more distance between your back hatch and the rack, you could get the Kuat Hi-Lo Hitch extender # KU37FR which will give you 10 extra inches and a 2-1/8 inch drop. This can be used with other accessories, but it will cut your hitch capacity in half because of the extension.
The Sherpa comes with a rack lock and a cable lock... view full answer...
Just make sure that there is less than 11 inches from the hitch pin hole on your hitch to the edge of your bumper on your 2020 Mercedes GLS. If so, you'll be able to use it without any clearance issues. The Sherpa does come with a hitch and bike cable lock so no need to buy them separate. I like the pearl color on the Sherpa 2.0 # SH22P but it comes in black # SH22B and Grey # SH22G. One attachment I like using with the Sherpa is the Pivot # PVP20B swing away system. It'll allow you to... view full answer...
I have exactly what you are looking for, however, the Kuat Envy 2.0 Base 2 Bike Carrier # BA22B will not work as this is not rated for RV / Motorhome use. Bike racks that are RV/Motrhome-rated are built to withstand the extra bouncing that occurs on the back of a motorhome or travel trailer.
Your best option is the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S94FR. The weight capacity is 70lbs per bike and it clamps onto the bike frame, making it a great... view full answer...
The LED tail lights on your 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 will have 5 wires for the turn signal, brake light, running light, reverse light and a ground wire. I have found a great hitch for your 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS and it does not require any cutting of your rear bumper. It's the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C13190. This is a custom fit hitch receiver that is specifically designed for your Mercedes. The only cutting that is required for install is some slight trimming back of the heat shield beneath the rear of your vehicle. This heat shield is not visible from the rear of your car. I have attached a picture that will show you what the... view full answer...
