I recommend using a Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller # C51180 as it requires no wiring inside the cab. You plug it in between your 7-way and the trailer 7-way and control the brakes from your phone. If the phone isn't with the vehicle it will revert to the last loaded setting. It is a proportional brake controller so it will adjust automatically for light or severe braking.
