Westin doesn't have record of which install kit the 1986 Commanche would use, but in my research I couldn't find any differences between the 1986 and 1987 models. Westin Recommends the universal bumper mount kit for the 1987 models, part # 97900 so I see no reason why it wouldn't work on your truck.
