Hi there, I'm Michael with www.etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at this Pace Edwards Power Gate Electric Tailgate Lock. This is going to mount on the inside of your tailgate and then will wire to your truck's door lock. So when you lock your truck's doors, it will lock your tailgate as well. So if you pair this with a Tonneau cover or a truckbed cap, this will help to secure anything that you have in the bed of your truck. This kit is designed specifically for your Dodge Ram.
This will work for your 2003 through 2008 Dodge Ram as well as the 2002 1500 and the 2009 2500 and 3500, all with the eight foot bed. So if you have any of those models of Dodge Ram, this is going to work for you. They do include instructions to walk you through the installation process to get this installed properly. But a very simple install with the plug-and-go wiring harnesses so they all plug into each other. And then you've got your taps here to splice into the door lock wires on your truck.
You are going to get the actuator, stainless steel backing plate, slide bolt, and nylon guide block, as well as all the wiring and everything that you see here to get this installed on your truck. So if you are wanting to add a little extra security and have the convenience of being able to lock and unlock your tailgate with your key fob or with the power controls in your truck, this is going to be a great way to go. Just the part I needed and it was very helpful to have a real person pick up the phone when I called to ask questions. AND my tailgate locks perfectly now! Wish I had ordered sooner but at least I can check that job off my "to do" list.

Now I can feel safe that my tonneau cover will be locked. There's no key whole, so nothing to Jimmy. Very protected. Also, the lock actuator feels and sounds very sturdy and capable.

P.S. follow the instructions step by step; they are very insightful into the car model and all its intricacies.
The way this works is the solenoid to block the handle from being lifted, all I can see happening is the handle breaking. The solenoid should lock/unlock the actual lock cylinder (if equipped). Wiring diagram for 2013 Toyota Tundra is poor, so I haven’t hooked it up yet.
we were able to install the product just fine, but it doesn't work properly. it only goes one way. We spent hours going over the wiring and everything was correct, the unit just didn't work correctly. we finally gave up. the product is still on the truck but is not being used.
Doesn't appear to fit for 2017 F-150, but instructions were so blurry and smudged when it arrived so its effectively useless for actually following for the install.
Went together like a dream. So easy because it is well-engineered and the fitment is precise. It went in under an hour as the wiring to the electrical was already there due to a failed prior install.
This item worked on my truck. Had a little problem with the installing of the lock. Had to ajust the lock rod on the passenger side of the tailgate, for clearance for lock to fit, and work smoothly. Works Great now.
PART WAS JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE AN EXISTING PACE EDWARDS POWERGATE ELECTRIC TAILGATE LOCK.
