Specs:
The Paramount padded tailgate bike rack is a quick and easy alternative to fork blocks. It saves you from having to remove the front wheels on your bikes and from drilling into your truck bed. And if you normally use a hitch rack, but will be using your hitch to tow, this rack lets you bring up to 5 bikes as well. Spacing blocks prevent bike-to-bike contact, hook-and-loop straps secure your bikes to the rack, and the center flap provides access to your tailgate handle.
There are 6 spacing blocks along the outer side of the rack. These blocks provide stabilization for your fork stanchions to prevent bike-to-bike contact. To set up your bikes, just stagger the front wheels over the tailgate hanging outside of the truck and place the fork stanchions between the blocks.
A series of sewn-on loops along the top of the rack provide anchor points for your bikes. Use the included hook-and-loop straps to secure your bikes to the tie-down points to prevent your bikes from shifting during transport. Additional straps (sold separately) are available if you lose one.
Easy Access to Tailgate Handle
The center flap lets you access your tailgate handle without having to remove the pad so you can lower your tailgate. The flap secures with a hook-and-loop fastener.
Mesh Pockets
There are 2 sewn-in mesh pockets that let you conveniently store your biking gear. They're great for storing helmets, gloves, and wet or sweaty clothes that you don't want inside your truck.
Heavy-Duty Construction
The rack is made of heavy-duty, ballistic tarpaulin. A high-density foam core protects your tailgate and your bikes from dents and dings. The fleece lining provides a soft, smooth surface that won't scratch or scuff your tailgate.
Simple Installation
To install the rack just slide it over your tailgate and use the 3 integrated tie-down straps wrap to secure it in place.

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out the Swagman Paramount on our 2020 Toyota Tundra. It's going to be a good way to get your bikes up and out of the bed of your truck and put them on your tailgate. So you save space towards the front of the bed and you don't have a bunch of bikes piled up on top of each other, because that's not going to end well for a bunch of bikes. This one in particular can carry five bikes. There is a bigger version for full-size trucks that can carry seven. So you have those two different options.
We're looking at the five bike one today. You can see that it's got the nice foam padding and protects your tailgate itself. Got the smooth side on this side. It's going to make sure there's no scratches if you move it or when you go to put the pad on there, it's not going to scratch it up as you move it around and tighten it down. You have the 3D extra padding here on the top. That's used...
if we look at our bike, the fork of the bike fits down in there and this helps support the tire. That way when you hit a bump or something. I'm pulling on it, it doesn't pop up and slam against the tailgate, but that foam's in there too so it's not going to matter if it did. It tightens down, you just hook a loop fastener around the frame and inaudible 00:01:15, we've got it tucked away.. I'll come on that side so I can actually see it.
I want to do it, and it keeps it nice and tight too so it really does hold it in there and it helps it. You feed it into itself and pull it even tighter.I'll go ahead and move the bikes and we can take a closer look. Another thing I like, specifically with our Toyota Tundra today, is the flap can be pulled up and fastened back there to keep this flap up all the time so you can always use your rear view. your backup camera, sorry. So this is always exposed.
As long as you don't have a full load with bikes, you can clip that down on the other side and it'll stay up and you can still use this camera. Not every pad offers that, so I think that's really awesome that it does.So we can jump back inside and I can show you how it clips in. You got the clip in there. Now it holds it back and out of the way and you can always use your backup camera. Again, as long as you don't have it fully loaded. You couldn't do this if the bike was here. The other thing, while we're back here, is these mesh pockets. I think this is awesome too, because a lot of these pads don't have it. There's a few that do, but in the ones. I always say. I really like them. It's good for. One, it's mesh. And two, that way when you put the helmets in there that are sweaty or your muddy shoes, it can still breathe so that smell's not going to stay contained in a pocket that closes up. It can all breathe and dry out and then there's no nasty smell in your pad or in your truck. How it attaches. while we're here, is these thin straps, they come down through the bottom of the tailgate and you reattach them up here and pull it tight. So I can get this one undone, and I'll show you what I'm talking about. It's folded pretty tight, so that's why there's a little bit of a struggle. Undo it, you can kind of see how it runs down there. So really when you're putting this in, you probably want to bring your tailgate down to here, feed the strap in through the bottom and pull it through the other side. It's not hard as it seems. The first time it's going to seem super hard and it's going to be a little frustrating and like, "I don't get it," but if you do it a couple of times, you kind of get the trick of your tailgate and how it's going to work and you know exactly what angle you need to hold it at with your shoulder while you put it. how much of the strap through before you can reach over and grab it. It's really not that hard. It's actually a pretty good system. I like it.Along with the pad being up like that, even if you don't keep it up like that, you can get that flap and always access your tailgate. So you don't have to not use your tailgate if you have the pad on there. So if your bikes are unloaded and you need to get something to the back, you can easily do that. You don't have to take this whole thing off.I think that does it for our look at the Swagman Paramount. Hope this helps.

This padded rack lets you carry 5 bikes on your truck bed tailgate. It's a great alternative to fork blocks, it doesn't require drilling into your truck bed, and you don't have to remove your bikes' front wheels.Well made, but you need to do something about the 3 straps...and how you can push a wet noodle up through the gap. Gonna have to put a sting down, and attach it to each stap to pull them up.
I've been using this for a couple of years now. I mainly use it when we go camping. It's been great for carrying the 4 bikes we have. The bikes never have shifted/moved while in transit. The tailgate pad is a little tricky to put on (I lay under the truck and fish the strap up to my son). I've installed the mat by myself but it's way easier with 2 people.
It has been great for 5 or 6 bikes, easy to put on. A little tight and depending on the type of bike it won't line up in the designated spot but I can still velcro the bikes to keep them secure. Would definitely recommend the Swagman. It can be put on with one person but 2 is easier, one in the bed and one threading it through. The same is true for loading/unloading bikes, one in the bed of the truck and one handing the bikes up. I have definitely done it by myself so we're loaded and ready to go camping when the boys get home from school.
Really like this bike rack for my truck. Easy to put on. Handles the Mtb bikes well.
