Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today taking a look at the shackles for the Aries TrailChaser Modular Jeep bumper.Now these are going to be a nice quick attachment point for any kind of accessory that you want to put on your Jeep. Whether it's a strap or recovery, maybe a just an attachment point for a boat on the top of your Jeep, whatever the case might be. These are going to be made of a durable forged steel construction, so they're going to have a very high weight capacity of 13,000 pounds or six and a half tons.Now the caveat with that is you're going to be limited on your mounting structures capacity, so your bumper is going to be kind of the weaker link there. Just because these are rated for a really high weight rating doesn't mean that your bumper is.

So you definitely want to go off of the lowest number of your bumper or any other component that this is attached to. So just keep it something to keep in mind there.On the outside we will have a durable carbide black powder-coat finish with a hot wax galvanized pin, so we don't have to worry about any rust or corrosion. The threads of that pin are the only part that aren't actually dipped, so you can see our threads are bare. That would probably be the first point of rest and same thing for the threads inside the shackle. But most of the time, that's going to be mounted within the shackle itself, so you shouldn't really have to worry about that too much.

The rest of it is coated in that nice coating, so not only is it going to look nice, but it also will stay rust resistant for a long time to come. We will get both shackles, so we'll get two of these guys.As far as the measurements, we'll go over a bunch of those with you. So the outside dimension there is about three and a half inches wide, from outside edge to outside edge. The interior of the belly of the shackle is going to be two inches. The distance from the top or the inside to the top of our pin, is about two and three quarter inches.

The throat of our opening is about an inch and a quarter. Our pin is going to have a seven eighths inch diameter. The top of the shackle is about three quarters of an inch. The distance from the outer flange on the pin to the other side of our shackle, is about four inches long. And overall the total length is about five inches.

If we put it the other way, our thickness is just shy of two inches, maybe two and 15-16ths.So hope it was measurement to give you a good idea of the size for these. As I said, they are going to be very and rust resistant, so they should give you years of good service, and it should be up to the task of just about any job that you have for them.But that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the shackles for the area's trail chaser modular deep bumper.
