Video Transcript for Inno Roof Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4 INB127

Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we are looking at this roof rack set up from Inno that includes 50-inch long square bars, as well as the Inno Feet for Square Bars on our 2017 Toyota RAV4. So there's different types of crossbars, so you have your aero, you have your square, you have your round. These square bars are the more traditional style of crossbars. But if you're looking for something that is light really quick and easy to put on and add some extra room or opportunity to put accessories on the roof of your RAV4, this might be a good option for you.

These are the 50-inch long square crossbars. Now, the recommended length for the crossbars for the RAV4 by Inno is the 46-long crossbars, but they don't provide enough overhang. So if you have accessories that require overhang, or if you just want a little bit more crossbar space, you might be interested in the 50-inch long version. So this square bars have a weight capacity of 220 pounds, which is the upside for having the square bar style. Now, you are limited though, by the roof weight capacity.

So whenever you have this loaded up, make sure to count the weight of your bars, the weight of your accessories, maybe the weight of your cargo, and add that all up and follow whichever is lower, whether it's your roof weight capacity or your square bar capacity. Since this is the length ideal for if you need overhang, we're gonna take some measurements. So the bar space you have from the top of the feet to the end cap is gonna be 3 and a quarter inches on the front crossbar, you're gonna have a space of 1 inch underneath the crossbar. Then here for your rear crossbar, you have a bar space of 4 and a half inches. And then underneath, it is 2 and a half inches.

As for how this sits on top of your vehicle, the height added to the top of your roof is gonna be 4 and a quarter inches. As for the clearance between the crossbar to the top of your roof, you're gonna have a clearance of 3 and 3/8 inches. That's the measurement you're gonna have to keep in mind when you have accessories with large clamps, or if you're carrying skis and snowboards with large bindings. The crossbar is made of hardened steel, which means is strong and durable, but it is also coated with elastomer. So you can see how this helps resist corrosion as well as it helps cushion the load.

So if you do have accessories on it, it's not straight on steel on steel, but you have that coating for cushion. The towers themselves are really quick and easy to throw onto your raised rails. They are locking, which means that you can lock them to your vehicle and make sure that your roof rack set up, stays on there. Now that process involves a strap that goes around the rails. So let's take a look at that process. So I already did one crossbar and we'll do the second one together. It's really quick and really simple. You just need to get the tower set up. So you have that rubber foot on that tower. Just pop that into place. Once that rubber foot is ready, you can then put the tower on the crossbar. So this is gonna slide through your crossbar. I like to have it where all the grooves are sitting on the outside or on the top. And then as you slide it through, just to make sure that your handle or your lever is gonna be facing the outside. Once you have your crossbars set up, you can have a friend help you out, catch you on the other side, I have Bobby here and he's gonna go over to that side and help me get it onto our raised rails. So you're gonna set that foot onto your raised rails. You can see how that rubber foot contours around those rails, and then you're gonna line it up to get as even as you can get on each side. So it's gonna be up to you to get them lined up. What I do is I measure from one point on the raised rails to the middle of the crossbar and then from that point, we go center to center just to see our crossbar spread. We're gonna go to 24-inches apart to get this to 24 and then get the other side between four. Once you have your crossbar spread measured and figured out, you're then going to make sure you have an equal amount of bar on each side. So I measured from the top of our feet to the end of our tower or our cost bar, and that's gonna be your overhang. So we have about 4 and a quarter inches. And once that's done, you then put this strap into its proper tab and then tighten it down. Once you have all four towers tightened down, you just put this lever down to the side, then you put your end cap on your crossbar. I try to make it so that you have the angle on the end pointing downwards. And then you put your cap on your tower. Now these are locking caps, you can then get your keys and then lock them into place. And that's it for the install. My final thoughts about this roof rack is I do like how quick it's easy as well as how light this system is. I personally am a fan of the aero crossbars because does reduce that wind drag and wind noise but since these are so light and small, as well as low profile, and makes up for them being a square crossbar. So if you do have those accessories that require square crossbars, as well as if you're looking for something that is lighter, this may be a really good option for you. And that was a look here at our Inno Roof Rack with Inno Square Crossbars and our Inno Feet for Square Crossbars here on our 2017 Toyota RAV4..

Easy to install and sturdy for the roof basket that was installed as well. Zero problems for the miles driven and the load on top.

Got it for a 2006 Toyota Prius. Overall a great purchase. It was sturdy and never had any major issues. I would 100% recommend getting the locks.

I almost gave it 4 stars for one reason. If you put it on as the instructions tell you to, it whistles really loud. It just takes a bunch of small iterations and quick drives down the street to find out if it stopped making noise. Other than that, great purchase.

Been a month haven’t received them yet they are in stock but guess we are waiting for one item which it’s in stock date gets pushed back every day. And the company doesn’t let the customer know the date changes or when they will send it.

The bars could be longer because you cannot attach two sets of attachments, otherwise they are fine

Easy to install and have worked great so far!

by:

Great cross bars to replace the rusty original cross bars this vintage Thule rack. Classic cars require these old style racks and many are 30+ years old and great to be able to give new life to an old rack system.

by:

Super easy to install and remove. Lock feature is great

by:

Works well, has stayed attached with no issues. We've used them (plus the bars) to keep a canoe and a rocket box on the car at different times throughout the year (not at the same time, it's on a tiny golf).

by:

Incredible engineering: does not feel like an aftermarket rack. Easy to take off if necessary. Solid; highly recommend.

We planned to leave this on for a short time but it's so unintrusive and functional we've had it on the car for a year now. It works great, we've used it to attach a canoe to the car and we now have a rocketbox attached.

by:

Well made, sturdy, thick and quality materials. Makes no noise at speed, no complaints thus far.

by:

Worked great! Traveled with a carrier on these racks from Chicago to Seattle. No issues, would buy again!

by:

It was easy to install. Seems to be very stable.

by:

This car roof rack cross bars were easy to assembly. Attaching the cross bars to the car takes a little patience to ensure that the cross bars are centered on the car, the correct distance from the center of the front & rear doors and parallel. But going through it once it is easy to repeat. I have sued the carrier once to haul 13 2x4 lumber no problems.

Good quality rack system, easy to assemble and install, works well, looks good, fair price, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I appreciate the guidance I received from William B. at the beginning of my search for a roof rack to carry a canoe on my 2015 Honda Civic. Two thumbs up for this purchase.

by:

The roof racks have been great. I've used them with j-hooks and rear loading slider type pads. They are easy to install/remove. In the picture is my 17ft long sea kayak that stayed secure and safe on a 6 hour journey in high winds using the racks.

by:

Great roof rack. Easy to install and du rable!

by:

For a roof with no mounts, this is a perfect choice!

The fitment selected for me by etrailer.com for my 2012 Ford Escape was perfect. The Inno Rack System is easy to install (made easier by the use of etrailer.com's instruction video links).

I chose the square bar fitment because I prefer the look over the various "aerodynamic designs", while I prefer the look over others, a wind fairing will prove to eliminate the very hint of sound that does emanate into the cabin.

If you are looking for a Clamp mounted system that requires zero modification/easily removabl this is the system for you.

Worked well for my 2006 Toyota Prius

by:

Installation is easy. Just follow directions. Front bar parts are different than rear bar parts so you need to look at part numbers and use in correct location. Rack is only rated for 100 pounds but looks and feels much stronger than rating. As noted square bars do create lot of wind noise when driving. Purchase this product to carry my Canoe and it does that at almost $200 less than other rack systems on market. For me the square bars are better fit with ratchet straps to hold Canoe down. Hard to find ratchet strap with hook to fit areo bars.
Dislike. No way to level square bars. With car on level ground high point to high point on bars is level. But each bar is off by 1/8" front to back. Wish they were round bars.

Sticks too much, I wish they were more aerodynamic.

by:

Works well. They have a rubber boot that goes over the open ends to keep them from making a whistle noise when driving. Don't lose those!
