Video Transcript for Inno Roof Rack Review - 2017 Ford Escape

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the NO square bar roof rack system consisting of part numbers IMB127, these are the NO square cross bars, 50 inches long. To hold those in place on the factory rate side rails, we have the NO feet here, part number INFR. This is a great roof rack system that can carry a wide variety of accessories ranging from bike racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes. They have a nice strong, sturdy square bar to hold things onto and of course, you can only utilize the wrap around accessories, no T tracks for this. You can upgrade to the NO arrow bars with another part number. Now, while these are square bars, they will produce noise while you drive. However, they do offer fairings that you can purchase online at etrailer.com to help cut down the wind noise and drag by creating a deflector at the front.

Moving onto the feet here, you can see how everything attaches. We have this rubber coated steel strap that wraps around your existing side rail and we also have padding where it makes contact at the top. Everything that makes contact with your vehicle is going to be padded to make sure that there's no damage to it once these are being installed.Another advantage is it does have the integrated tightening system so you can take these off or put them on with ease as you travel. Of course, when everything is installed, we do have locking end caps so everything's going to be secure to your roof also. To put our first bar in place, we did measure back from this point here, to this front edge, on both sides, evenly, to make sure it was even once we put it on.

Let's go ahead and show you how the rear bar gets attached. We already have it partially assembled on our handy table here. As I knock everything over. We have our bar, the feet and our first step is, we're going to take this end and install it on the other end of our bar. Now, an advantage to this is everything is already together once you get it out of the box so you just slide it onto our end cap like so, take our rubber end cap here, put that in place as well. Make sure it's in the open position, and then we can install this on our roof.

Now, I'm not going to set it in any particular place right now. I'm only concerned with making sure that we have it wrapped around the bar on both sides. You may need an extra set of hands to do this if you're a little shorter.Next, what we're going to do is start taking a couple measurements here. First, we're going to measure from center to center on the bar. Now, there's no real set measurement for this, you just don't want to go under 24 inches.

What I like to do is, I like to go by the accessories that I'm hauling and go by their recommendations because they usually have a range of cross bar spread that you can work with. Next, we'll measure for cross bar overhang and that's how much the bar is sticking out past the feet. It looks like we can afford just a little bit of space here. All right, with that done, we can wrap our straps around the bottom and you have two choices on what you can do here. This is going to be the standard slot at the top here and then we'll take our integrated tool here and just tighten things down. It's a very easy install. Compared to most, you don't have to put a lot of things together, which can be kind of a hassle. Repeat this on the other side. Some other accessories you can put on this; bike racks, cargo baskets, cargo boxes. Also, ski and snowboard carriers, kayak carries and stay and paddle boat carriers, all of which you can find on NO from etrailer.com. Although of course, they do all have to be wrap around, not the channel mount. Install our end caps here. Make sure things line up. Now final step is, we're going to give you a couple quick measurements. From the center of the roof to the bottom of the bar, it's going to be 1 7/8ths of an inch and from the center to the top, it's going to be to be 2 7/8ths of an inch. More than enough space for those accessories to wrap around where it won't make contact with your roof or cause you any problems. Plus, if you do have a sun roof on your particular vehicle, it shouldn't interfere with that either. These bars do have a slightly higher carrying capacity than most with 220 pounds, however, you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can take those weights and go by its recommendations. There you have it for the NO square bar roof rack system on our 2017 Ford Escape.

Easy to install and sturdy for the roof basket that was installed as well. Zero problems for the miles driven and the load on top.

Got it for a 2006 Toyota Prius. Overall a great purchase. It was sturdy and never had any major issues. I would 100% recommend getting the locks.

I almost gave it 4 stars for one reason. If you put it on as the instructions tell you to, it whistles really loud. It just takes a bunch of small iterations and quick drives down the street to find out if it stopped making noise. Other than that, great purchase.

Been a month haven’t received them yet they are in stock but guess we are waiting for one item which it’s in stock date gets pushed back every day. And the company doesn’t let the customer know the date changes or when they will send it.

The bars could be longer because you cannot attach two sets of attachments, otherwise they are fine

by:

Easy to install and have worked great so far!

Great cross bars to replace the rusty original cross bars this vintage Thule rack. Classic cars require these old style racks and many are 30+ years old and great to be able to give new life to an old rack system.

by:

Super easy to install and remove. Lock feature is great

Volkswagen Golf

Works well, has stayed attached with no issues. We've used them (plus the bars) to keep a canoe and a rocket box on the car at different times throughout the year (not at the same time, it's on a tiny golf).

Incredible engineering: does not feel like an aftermarket rack. Easy to take off if necessary. Solid; highly recommend.

We planned to leave this on for a short time but it's so unintrusive and functional we've had it on the car for a year now. It works great, we've used it to attach a canoe to the car and we now have a rocketbox attached.

by:

Well made, sturdy, thick and quality materials. Makes no noise at speed, no complaints thus far.

by:

Worked great! Traveled with a carrier on these racks from Chicago to Seattle. No issues, would buy again!

by:

It was easy to install. Seems to be very stable.

This car roof rack cross bars were easy to assembly. Attaching the cross bars to the car takes a little patience to ensure that the cross bars are centered on the car, the correct distance from the center of the front & rear doors and parallel. But going through it once it is easy to repeat. I have sued the carrier once to haul 13 2x4 lumber no problems.

Good quality rack system, easy to assemble and install, works well, looks good, fair price, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I appreciate the guidance I received from William B. at the beginning of my search for a roof rack to carry a canoe on my 2015 Honda Civic. Two thumbs up for this purchase.

The roof racks have been great. I've used them with j-hooks and rear loading slider type pads. They are easy to install/remove. In the picture is my 17ft long sea kayak that stayed secure and safe on a 6 hour journey in high winds using the racks.

For a roof with no mounts, this is a perfect choice!

The fitment selected for me by etrailer.com for my 2012 Ford Escape was perfect. The Inno Rack System is easy to install (made easier by the use of etrailer.com's instruction video links).

I chose the square bar fitment because I prefer the look over the various "aerodynamic designs", while I prefer the look over others, a wind fairing will prove to eliminate the very hint of sound that does emanate into the cabin.

If you are looking for a Clamp mounted system that requires zero modification/easily removabl this is the system for you.

Great roof rack. Easy to install and du rable!

Toyota

Worked well for my 2006 Toyota Prius

by:

Installation is easy. Just follow directions. Front bar parts are different than rear bar parts so you need to look at part numbers and use in correct location. Rack is only rated for 100 pounds but looks and feels much stronger than rating. As noted square bars do create lot of wind noise when driving. Purchase this product to carry my Canoe and it does that at almost $200 less than other rack systems on market. For me the square bars are better fit with ratchet straps to hold Canoe down. Hard to find ratchet strap with hook to fit areo bars.
Dislike. No way to level square bars. With car on level ground high point to high point on bars is level. But each bar is off by 1/8" front to back. Wish they were round bars.
