Hey everyone I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a quick look at the K-Source replacement side mirror. This is going to be a direct replacement for your 2014 through 2018 Mazda 3. So if something happened to that original mirror, this is going to be a great fit for you. It should look exactly like your original mirror, has the same footprint and everything, so should be pretty easy to get installed. No drilling or modifications required, it does have the electrical connection so you can just plug that right into your vehicle's electric housing for your mirror and get that running again. It does have support for your power functions so you can make those adjustments to the mirror face from inside your vehicle, but it does not support the builtin turn signal or the blind spot detection system or the BSDS.
So keep that in mind.Also, if you didn't already have a powered mirror to begin with, this isn't going to upgrade you. You would have to have that wiring connection in your vehicle already to utilize this. So just keep that in mind that this isn't going to be an upgrade for a manual mirror to a powered mirror. You might notice that I'm holding this cover at the back. You're going to have the option to paint this to match your vehicle if you would like to, if it's something different than a gloss black.
It's easiest to do that whenever the cover is removed so it comes to you with that cover off so that you can do that without having to worry about any over-spray onto your mirror face to the rest of the housing. Whenever you're doing that, you want to let it dry and then pop it back in place. But make sure not to put this back on until you're ready for it to stay on because you might be able to see those clips in there, they really do not want to come off once they're in place, which is a good thing.You don't really want that cover to be able to come off too easy. But if you happen to clip that on there and decide that you want to take it off later, it's going to be pretty hard unless you are okay with breaking some of those clips, which won't hold it as well. So definitely make sure that you paint that before you get it pushed in place.
This is also going to have a breakaway design, so if you happen to be on a narrow street, you can fold that into your vehicle and eliminate any issues of it breaking off. Also, if somebody happens to tap that mirror or hit it on, whether they're going down the road, it should fold in towards your vehicle rather than snapping off completely, but that's pretty much all there is to it for our K-Source replacement side mirror for the driver's side.
