Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the K Source replacement side mirror. This is going to be for the passenger side of our 2006 through 2012 Ford Ranger. Now, this is going to match directly with your old mirrors, so there's no cutting or splicing. There's no drilling required with this.
It's just going to plug right into your old factory wiring harness, will have new flange nuts to get in place. Whenever you pop your old one off, you can just replace this one exactly the same way, put that new hardware on there, plug in your wiring, and you should be good to go. That allows you to adjust that mirror face with your factory controls inside your cab, so you don't have to worry about adjusting this manually. It's going to still work with your electrical system. Again, no cutting or splicing required.That lens, the mirror face has a convex lens or a slightly curved design to it, so that helps to widen the field of view and give you better field of vision so that it eliminates any blind spots that you might have out there on the road.Now, you might notice that the cover, I'm just holding on there, it's loose.
That's because whenever you get this, they have the covers separate. If you wanted to, you can paint this to match your Ranger. If you have a red, yellow, blue, whatever it might be, you can paint this to match without it being attached to your mirror housing so you don't have to worry about any over-spray getting onto the rest of the housing and it's going to make everything a lot easier. I will say once you put these in place, it's really hard to get it off without marring this cover. It's just a plastic piece, so you want to be careful whenever you do that.
You don't want to just put it on just to see how it's going to look because you'll have a devil of a time getting that off there without scratching or gouging it. If you want to paint it, do that first, and then put it in place.Overall, this is going to be a really easy way to replace that mirror. It does still have the breakaway functions, so we can fold this in against our Ranger to keep it nice and compact for in any kind of close quarter situation, like going into a garage or maybe on a one-way street or something like that.Now, this is for the passenger side.
