Video Transcript for WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Malibu

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors with Dark Tint, part number WT82730. The WeatherTech help reduce wind noise for a quieter ride inside your vehicle. The air deflectors allow you crack your window just enough to let the fresh air in even during bad weather. Now, we'll show you how to get this installed. We've already cleaned off the area where we're going to apply the air deflector. To first install it, we're going to take the shorter edge and place it into the weather stripping here, and then we'll follow along filling that into the stripping. We also got this edge that looks like it's broken, but really it's just going to sit off the edge of the car, so it's not going to get in the way of your window.

We're just going to go along inserting this under that weatherstripping. Now, when you are inserting this, you want your window about halfway down just so you have enough room to get that into the strip. Now, with that in place, we're going to open and close the window a few times just to get it situated in the right area, and then we're going to leave that window closed for a few days. We've already got our front ones installed. We'll show you how to do this back one here. It's designed a little different.

We've got a fatter end on this side and a skinnier end here. We're just going to place it in loosely just to find the easiest way for us to insert it later. As you can see here, it is going to insert in the weatherstripping again. It's a little different because this is going to use an adhesive to stick to the actual weatherstripping, but it is going to secure pretty much the same way. Now that we've got the right one in here and loosely installed, we can remove it and remove the adhesive covers on here. Now, when we cleaned out this window, I just took a shop towel and stuck it in the grooves here and cleaned out that area just so it's nice and clean, so our air deflector can stick a little more secure. Now, when I'm inserting this, I'm pushing the deflector back, so it doesn't stick on any part that we don't want it to.

Now, that I have it in place, I'm going to pull it forward, so that it does stick up in the right area against that weatherstripping there. Just like the front, I'm going to check the window, open it and close it a few times just to make sure it's secure and in the right place. If you heard that snap, that's because that weatherstripping and that air deflector we're just fitting into place there. It's just going to secure that against that strip even more. Again, we're going to leave our window closed for a few days, so that can secure and stay in place even more. Now that we got this side done, we can head over to the other side and do the same exact thing. That's going to complete our look and install of the WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors with Dark Tint, part number WT82730, on our 2015 Chevrolet Malibu..

First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.

3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.

Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.

Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.

Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.

So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.

It’s still early. I did the upgrade while in a walking boot (cannot drive) due to an Achilles rupture. So I can only comment on the install, which was much easier on the back windows. The front windows were a little awkward but eventually went in. I don’t like the ‘clunk’ as the window closes in the last inch or so. The window comes in contact with the deflector and clunks. I hope the plastic heats / cools and reforms as it sits over the next few days. Otherwise I like the look and finish, it’s just the fit which I’m not completely convinced off yet.

These weather tech side window rain guards are really well made. Front ones installed easily and allow us to crack open the windows even in the rain. I could not for the life of me install the rear ones, or I would have given them 5 stars.

by:

The front rain guards fit my 2023 Passport perfectly. The rears weren't setting correctly in the window seal and neither rear window would roll up completely. Also, when I remove the two rear rain guards, I noticed the thinnest part, which is supposed to go between the window seal and the glass had broken in use. I have no patience for this, so I threw the rears in the trash. In retrospect, I'd have have rated these a 5 if I'd only purchased the fronts.

by:

I put these window deflectors on my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT. I love the look it gives on my car, and the option it gives me when it is raining to roll down my window. I would give this a 5-star rating and 100% recommendation

by:

I didn't know how much I would love these rain guards until I finally bought and installed them. Install is easy. etrailer shipping quickly. It's been a year and they have held up to the sun and rain, and look brand new still. They work GREAT. Highly recommend!

by:

Very satisfied and pleased with my purchase experience from etrailer and the weather-tech side door window guards.
Glad I finally converted to weather tech. Installation was simple and no need of vht tapes.
Fitment is perfect, real clean low profile look , as if they belong there.
Highly recommend etrailer and the quality products they offer and professional experience . Top notch customer communication!
Looking forward to working with them for future purchases..

Helps keep the vehicle cooler in the heat. Easy installation.

by:

Love these, much better than the ones that stick to the outside of the door frame. They tuck in nice and sleek, are great for keeping the rain out. Put them on all my cars now.

by:

They wouldn’t stay on the front windows with the window rolled down, the drivers side blew off, so I removed the passenger side. The rears are snug 2018 lexus gx 460.

by:

Love the rain guards.

by:

Looks good and easy to install, just watch the installation videos.

by:

Easy installation, arrived fast and great price!

by:

What else would you expect from weathertech??? Proven quality!!

by:

paid the little extra to go with these well made and excellent fitting window vents as other "stick ons" just dont last. I bought from etrailer as they track shipping and assure delivery.

very pleased!

highly recommend WeathTech & etrailer

by:

Easy to install, though took a little gentle extra effort to "encourage" them into the window frames. It causes just a little wind noise, but that is expected, as it impedes the aerodynamics of the car.

by:

Don't look to close. I think that products coming from a company that prides itself on custom fit, the fit would be better. The reveal along the top is very uneven. Instructions say to roll window up very slowly, right, power windows. First time up, crack, :( . Luckily the cracked piece is small and hidden.

by:

Easy to install

by:

Good fit after a finnicky installation. The front guards do not use an adhesive to install, just pressure, so time will tell how they hold up, but initial impressions are good.

by:

My package arrived in ok condition! Way to much much room to be shaken and be destroyed. Luckily mine arrived ok. Some of the original packaging was dented and deformed do to over sized box! I got lucky!

by:

Easy install. Arrived within week of ordering. They work great on my class c motorhome.

by:

super easy installation. great fit.

by:

Unfortunately the rain Guards don't work properly on my vehicle, the minute they sense the rain Guards the window retracts in the open position, and I can't close my windows.
I will be looking to return these if I can't fix the issue ,or if possible return for a rain guard that has a self adhesive that sticks on the outside of the window trim.
Thanks S
