Hello, neighbors. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at these WeatherTech Side Window Rain Guards for the front and rear of your 2020 through 2024 Ford Explorer. Now folks, that being said, please make sure you ensure that you are double checking your fit with our etrailer fit guide, top center of the homepage. Enter your year, make, and model. Make sure you're getting the right parts for your specific vehicle.
Now folks, these will, again, you get two fronts and two rears, and the two install tools and prep tools included. They will reduce the window noise and also allow that interior heat to escape from the vehicle, or whenever it rains, you wanna get some cool breeze or some fresh air, you can have that window cracked down about a half inch to an inch, and these will protect water from getting inside as well. And they are a truly simple install. You simply and easily install them inside the window channel of the vehicle. So they've got a spot here all the way across it that'll tuck up inside of that window channel.
And the tool that's included, one, helps you kind of prep that and clean it. And two, it also helps get it up inside of there as needed. So kind of acts almost like a little pry bar, if you will, as well. There's no exterior tape needed to install these. They do boast a very nice low profile, and an OEM looking look on the outside whenever it's all installed.
They do offer an exceptional durability with a three millimeter thick acrylic construction. They do have a little give to them, but they are nice and rigid. They should never break on you or anything like that. Three year warranty. Very, very simple install.
Again, what I recommend and what we do here at etrailer.com is we'll set the vehicle out in the sun for at least a couple hours. That kind of helps loosen up some of those window trim gaskets and those kind of things. Makes it install just a little bit easier. And then per instructions, once you have these installed, you're actually gonna keep the windows up for a total of 48 hours. That kind of holds them in place and kind of helps them seat into those window tracks and those gaskets a lot better as well. First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.
3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.
Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.
Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.
Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.
So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.
It’s still early. I did the upgrade while in a walking boot (cannot drive) due to an Achilles rupture. So I can only comment on the install, which was much easier on the back windows. The front windows were a little awkward but eventually went in. I don’t like the ‘clunk’ as the window closes in the last inch or so. The window comes in contact with the deflector and clunks. I hope the plastic heats / cools and reforms as it sits over the next few days. Otherwise I like the look and finish, it’s just the fit which I’m not completely convinced off yet.
These weather tech side window rain guards are really well made. Front ones installed easily and allow us to crack open the windows even in the rain. I could not for the life of me install the rear ones, or I would have given them 5 stars.
The front rain guards fit my 2023 Passport perfectly. The rears weren't setting correctly in the window seal and neither rear window would roll up completely. Also, when I remove the two rear rain guards, I noticed the thinnest part, which is supposed to go between the window seal and the glass had broken in use. I have no patience for this, so I threw the rears in the trash. In retrospect, I'd have have rated these a 5 if I'd only purchased the fronts.
I put these window deflectors on my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT. I love the look it gives on my car, and the option it gives me when it is raining to roll down my window. I would give this a 5-star rating and 100% recommendation
I didn't know how much I would love these rain guards until I finally bought and installed them. Install is easy. etrailer shipping quickly. It's been a year and they have held up to the sun and rain, and look brand new still. They work GREAT. Highly recommend!
Love these, much better than the ones that stick to the outside of the door frame. They tuck in nice and sleek, are great for keeping the rain out. Put them on all my cars now.

They wouldn’t stay on the front windows with the window rolled down, the drivers side blew off, so I removed the passenger side. The rears are snug 2018 lexus gx 460.

Easy to install, though took a little gentle extra effort to "encourage" them into the window frames. It causes just a little wind noise, but that is expected, as it impedes the aerodynamics of the car.
My package arrived in ok condition! Way to much much room to be shaken and be destroyed. Luckily mine arrived ok. Some of the original packaging was dented and deformed do to over sized box! I got lucky!
Easy to install
Easy install. Arrived within week of ordering. They work great on my class c motorhome.
Don't look to close. I think that products coming from a company that prides itself on custom fit, the fit would be better. The reveal along the top is very uneven. Instructions say to roll window up very slowly, right, power windows. First time up, crack, :( . Luckily the cracked piece is small and hidden.
paid the little extra to go with these well made and excellent fitting window vents as other "stick ons" just dont last. I bought from etrailer as they track shipping and assure delivery.

Good fit after a finnicky installation. The front guards do not use an adhesive to install, just pressure, so time will tell how they hold up, but initial impressions are good.
Living in Florida I can tell you I really crack my windows.
I get my car washed 2 to 3 times a month and I have not had any problems with them. I am very happy I invested in them.
Unfortunately the rain Guards don't work properly on my vehicle, the minute they sense the rain Guards the window retracts in the open position,and I can't close my windows.
I will be looking to return these if I can't fix the issue ,or if possible return for a rain guard that has a self adhesive that sticks on the outside of the window trim.

Installed easy but had one small break near the top when installing. Also, I noticed the window motors seem sluggish at the last inch or so, though it does seems to seal well. I hope that will not cause any issues with the motors down the road.
