Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Flair-It PEX reducing straight coupler fitting. This straight coupler is going to connect to your pipes and hoses in your RV's freshwater plumbing system. So whether you're needing to repair a leaky connection or if you're installing new lines, this will do a great job for you. This will work with your PEX pipes, the old gray PB pipes and your polyvinyl tubing. We do have the 3/4 inch barbed connection here that's gonna fit your hoses and tubes with a 3/4 inch inner diameter.
And we have the half inch barbed connection that will work with your hoses and tubes with a half inch inner diameter. Having that barbed connection on each end and with the compression ends here, it's going to allow you to get this installed without having to use any tools. So basically the way this will work, we'll slide that compression end over your hose or pipe and then you'll get that barbed end inserted into your hose or pipe. And that's gonna take a little bit of doing, you're gonna have to wiggle it back and forth a little bit, apply some pressure. But once you have that barbed end inserted, you can just slide that compression end back over and get it threaded down.
And basically what that's doing is it's forcing your pipe out and then back in so you're getting a nice secure connection. And of course, you'll do the same on the other side as well. Now, I actually tried this out myself a few days ago. We had a very similar fitting and some PEX pipe laying around. So I put the fitting on there.
I was really impressed at just how solid that connection is. I was able to get it installed by hand, but like I said, it will take some pressure to get that barbed end inserted into your pipe. So if you are gonna be working in a confined space, in a cabinet, under counters, that sort of thing, I would recommend trying to get that fitting on your pipe before you get into that confined space, somewhere where you have a little bit more elbow room, to apply some leverage to get that barbed end in. But once it's in, it is a very solid connection. I was able to get it all installed by hand, but when I went to take it back off, I had to get some vice grips and a couple of pairs of vice grips to get it all off.
So it's a super solid connection which, of course, you're working with water so it's very reassuring that it's a solid connection. You're not gonna have to worry about drips, leaks, and that sort of thing, so obviously very important with plumbing. This is a polyoxyethylene construction, so it is gonna be very durable and resistant to stress cracking, will hold up well for a long time to come. So if you are needing to reduce from a 3/4 inch inner diameter hose or pipe down to a half inch inner diameter hose or tube, this is gonna do a great job for you. This is just one of the many connection types that we have available here at etrailer.com, one of the many fittings that's available. So as you're going through your project, thinking through what kind of connections you're gonna need to make, what kind of lines you're gonna need to run, I'd encourage you to take a look at our other options, make sure that you've got everything that you need before you start your project. And that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
