Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Flare-it PEX female T adapter fitting. This T is going to connect your pipes and hoses in your RV freshwater plumbing system, specifically to help set up or hook up an ice maker for you. This will work whether you're repairing leaky connections or installing new lines. It will work with your PEX pipes, the old gray PB pipes as well as polyvinyl tubing. We have the one eighth inch FPT connection here that's gonna fit your hoses and tubes with the one eighth inch MPT fitting that will thread in there.
And then on either side, we're going to have our half inch barbed connection that's going to fit your hoses and tubes with a half inch inner diameter. And that barbed connection paired with the compression end means that you can get this installed without having to use any tools. So basically the way this is gonna work, you'll slide that compression end over your tube or hose and then you'll get that barbed end inserted into the tube or hose. And that might take a little bit of doing, might have to wiggle it back and forth and apply a bit of pressure there to get that inserted. But once it is inserted there, you can slide that compression cap over and thread that in place.
You'll do the same on the other side and that is going to give you a very secure connection. I actually tried this out myself a few days ago. We had a very similar fitting and some spare PEX pipe laying around. So I just thought I'd try it out, see how it worked. I was super impressed with just how strong that connection is.
So I was able to get it installed by hand. It did take a little bit to get that barbed end into the tube, but then once I got it tightened down, it was very solid. I had to use a couple of vice grips to get it to come off. So a very, very solid connection. I will point out that if you are gonna be working in a confined space, under a cabinet or something like that, it might be a good idea to put your fitting on your hose or your tube before you get into that confined space because getting that barb inserted might take a little bit of elbow room, some leverage to get it put on there.
But once it's connected, it is going to be a super secure connection, which obviously is very important when you're dealing with water. You don't want to have any leaks or anything like that. And this is a polyoxymethylene construction so it is gonna be very durable and resistant to stress cracks and that sort of thing. So it will hold up well for you. I do wanna point out, again, we do have lots of, several, this is just one of several different options that we have available here at etrailer.com. So as you're looking through your project, things that you're wanting to add, make sure that you're looking at all those other connections. Make sure you're getting everything that you need for your setup. And that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
