Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport LED Driving Pod Light with Bracket. Now, this three-inch LED driving pod light is gonna act as an auxiliary high beam and increase your visibility to keep you safe. And this is going to be a relatively easy installation anywhere on your vehicle with the included aluminum U bracket and hardware. As you can see, I do have this bracket installed on this light with the hardware, and this bracket is going to allow you to adjust the angle of the light and then wherever you want that angle, you'll just tighten down the hardware on the bracket and it will hold that light in position. We also have hardware to install the bracket onto your vehicle and the bracket is constructed of durable aluminum, so it's gonna hold up really well for you and resist corrosion.

And lemme go ahead and shut my studio lights off here and go for a wider view, just so you can get a good idea of what this light's gonna look like in low-light conditions, dark conditions. I'm gonna turn this light around and shine the beam on the wall behind me, just so you can get a good look at that beam. That driving pattern is gonna give you enough width to light up a standard road or trail, and the light has a color temperature of 3,000 kelvin, and that yellow color is gonna be great for bad weather, like rain and fog. And this does have a raw lumen rating of 1,930 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 1,300 lumen. And you can see, even with my studio lights on here, just how bright this light continues to be.

So then going for a closeup, again, this does have a peak beam intensity of 53,500 Candela and Candela ratings measure the directional light output and it's how anything is rated where you want lights shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. Now this does have a power draw of 1.1 amps and this light is designed with the newer technology known as Custom TIR Optics. TIR stands for Total Internal Reflection.

So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't too efficient at focusing all the light where you want it, this custom-designed large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all the light forward very efficiently. And instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded into this lens surface, so that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. As you might know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose up to 10% of that light, just from its shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're not gonna lose efficiency, you're actually gonna pick some efficiency up. Now this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch-style connector, and I do have another pigtail here with that connector.

And that's just going to plug directly in the back of the light like this pigtail. And this light also has a breather patch that you can see right here, and that's going to allow any moisture to escape, so you're not gonna have moisture build up in the light itself. And on the back of the light, we do have these heat sinks. It's gonna help dissipate the heat quickly to increase the longevity of this light. Now, this light has been built with high-intensity LED chips. It does feature a durable powder coated aluminum construction, and that heavy duty construction is gonna withstand extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. Testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting note, Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled this light right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the Greater St. Louis, Missouri area. Now, just some overall measurements. Looking at the width from end to end, we're sitting right at three and a quarter inches wide. That's gonna be the same for the height of the light. And then when you install the bracket, that is, of course, going to increase the height. So measuring from the top of the light all the way to the base of our bracket, we're gonna be sitting pretty close to three and three quarters inches tall. And then looking at the depth from the front of the light all the way to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting real close to two and three eights inches deep. Now this light does draw high current and it does require adequately sized wiring for safe operation, so if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you wanna be sure that you're using wire that's sized at 16 gauge or larger.
