Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 sport LED fog pod lights. Now these three-inch LED fog pod lights are gonna give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. And these are gonna be a great option to consider if you're thinking about upgrading the fog lights on your vehicle. As you can see, I have this particular light already hooked up to my power source. And I am currently showing you the backlight feature, which is one of my favorite features of these lights.

I'm gonna go ahead and turn my studio lights off here just so you can get a better view and see what this is going to look like in low light conditions. Let me go for my back for my wide view here. This amber backlight is gonna be great for a stylish touch or for more visibility when you're not using the main beam. Speaking of the main beam, let me go ahead and kick that on here just so you can see the difference. So there's the main fog beam and then there's the backlight again, and then the fog beam.

So a big difference there as you can tell. Now to give you a better demonstration here, I'm gonna shine this light on the wall behind me just so you can get a good view of that beam. That fog pattern beam is gonna give you high intensity light in an extremely wide field of view. And this light has a color temperature of 6,000 kelvin. So that cool white color will match most factory lights.

This has a raw lumen rating of 2,262 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 1,520 lumens. And so let me go ahead and turn my studio lights back on here and shine that light again on my wall. And even with my studio lights on, you can see just how bright this light is and that beam is still visible. Now again, taking a closer look at this, the peak beam intensity that these lights offer is 10,600 candela. Now if you've never heard of candela rating before, that rating measures the directional light output, and it's how anything is rated where you want lights shining in a specific direction.

Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics has additional information that you can find. So the power draw on that main beam is 1.1 amps and on the backlight it's 0.03 amps. And these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't real great at focusing all of the light where you want it, this custom design large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of the light forward very efficiently. And from there, instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have actually been molded directly into the surface of this lens. This is going to prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with an outside lens. As you might know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose some light. You could lose up to 10% of that light just from it shining through. So by making it as part of this lens, you're actually gonna pick up some efficiency rather than lose it. Now this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch-style connector. So you see the included pigtail and that connector is going to plug securely right into the back of these lights. And these are are also constructed of high intensity LED chips. Features a durable powder-coated aluminum construction. And that heavy duty construction is gonna withstand extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. Testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. This does include a breather patch on the back that's going to prevent any moisture buildup. And these heat sinks on the back of the housing will dissipate the heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. Now an interesting note, Diode Dynamics actually designed and engineered and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the Greater St. Louis area. And just to give you some overall measurements, looking at the overall width from end to end, we're sitting at about 3 1/4 inches wide. We get the same measurement for our height, 3 1/4 inches tall. And then the depth from the end of our heat sinks all the way to the front of our light about 2 3/8 inches deep. Now these lights draw high current, so they do require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, please be sure to use wire that's sized at 16 gauge or larger. Now you can get these two lights with brackets and hardware to install.
