Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at these Diode Dynamics SS3 Max LED driving pod lights with brackets. These three-inch LED driving pod lights are going to act as an auxiliary high beam and increase your visibility to keep you safe. So if you're looking to improve your high beam setup on your vehicle, these lights are gonna be a great option for you to consider. Now, these are gonna be a relatively easy installation virtually anywhere on your vehicle with the included aluminum brackets.

And as you can see, I do have a bracket installed on this light already that I have connected to my power source just to show you what the bracket's gonna look like. And so it does come with hardware to install the bracket onto the light itself and then hardware to install the bottom of the bracket onto your vehicle. And what's nice about using the light in this bracket is you're able to adjust the angle of that light to wherever you need it, and then you'll just tighten down that hardware to hold that light and that angle that you are wanting to use. Now, as you can see, I do already have this connected to my power source, and I'm gonna go ahead and turn my studio lights off here just to give you a good demonstration of just how bright these lights are. I think a better demonstration, though, is gonna be to shine this light on the wall behind me.

Let me raise that up just a little bit, and I wanna show you that driving beam pattern. Now, that's gonna give you enough width to light up a standard road or trail. And these lights have a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, so that cool white color is gonna match most of your factory lights. And it's a really crisp color, so it's gonna do a great job of increasing your visibility. And these have a lumen rating, a raw lumen rating rather, of 7,920 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 3,500 lumens.

And so I'm turning my studio lights back on, and even with my bright studio lights on, you can still see that beam on the back of my wall, so a very bright light indeed. Now, these lights do offer a peak beam intensity of 98,000 candela. And in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output, and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. Now, that main beam has a power draw of three amps, and these lights are designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't too efficient at focusing all of the light where you want it, this custom TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of the light forward very efficiently. And from there, instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have actually been molded directly into the lens surface. So what that's gonna do for you is prevent the normal efficiency loss you see with another outside lens. As you might know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose some light there, maybe up to 10% of that light from it just shining through. So by making it a part of this lens, you're not gonna lose efficiency. You're actually gonna pick some efficiency up. Now, this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch-style connector pigtail that I have here, and so just like on my light here, it's gonna plug into the back of this light very easily, and it's going to click securely into place. And then on the back of these lights, we do have a breather patch that's gonna prevent any moisture buildup, and these heat sinks are gonna do a great job of dissipating the heat quickly to increase the longevity of these lights. And these lights have been built with high-intensity LED chips, and they do feature a durable powder-coated aluminum construction. So this heavy-duty construction's gonna do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration. Testing on these lights is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting note, Diode Dynamics actually designed, engineered, and assembled these lights right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. Now, let me give you some overall measurements. Looking at the width from end to end, we're sitting right about 3-1/4 inches wide. That's gonna be the same for the height. And then when you of course add the brackets to the light, that's going to add some height, so from the top of the light to the bottom of the bracket, we're sitting pretty close to 3-3/4 inches tall. And then looking at the depth from the front of the light to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting pretty close to 2-3/8 inches deep. Now, these lights do draw a high current, and they do require adequately sized wiring to ensure safe operation, so if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you wanna be sure that you're using wiring that's size 16-gauge or larger.
