Specs:
Westin's Signature Series round nerf bars are constructed of high-grade galvanized steel. This material is made of a mixture of alloys that provides layers of resistance to rust caused by oxidation. The step pad areas on the bars are indented instead of cut out, maintaining the structural integrity of the steel tubing and preventing internal corrosion. And the nerf bars have a black powder coat that adds an extra layer of protection. Now you can take any type of weather head-on.
As shown in the image above, these step bars have a U-style tubing, which ensures that each bar conforms perfectly to your vehicle. Installation is quick and simple - just bolt the mounting brackets to existing holes in your truck's frame. No drilling is required.

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2016 Ram 1500, you're gonna be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install the Westin Signature Series round nerf bars. What our nerf bars look like when they're installed, round tube design with curved ends to maintain that streamlined look on your vehicle. They're gonna be constructed of a black powder coat steel, it's gonna resist any rust or corrosion. Just gonna set these bars apart, because you're gonna have two separate pads, one for each door. You're gonna have a 3" wide step to give you sure footing when entering and exiting the vehicle. One thing I really like about these foot pads is they're protected against UV rays, road salts, and oil, so they're not gonna crack and break apart over time.
Another thing that's gonna set these bars apart from others is, where our pad sits on the bar, it's actually indented and not cut out. The difference is with it just being indented the way these are, they're really gonna protect from any internal corroding. As far as the installation goes on these, it's pretty straightforward, pretty simple. There's not gonna be any welding or drilling we're gonna have to do.Now that we've gone over some of the features of these nice bars, let me show just how easy they are to put on. First thing we need to do is here on our driver's side, we're gonna do the same thing on the passenger side, we're gonna remove these two pieces of tape on the front inside panel of the vehicle.
Now, '15 and newer vehicles are gonna have weld nuts here pre-existing. If they don't, in your instructions it tells you to use a different plate that has a nut on it. We're gonna start with this bolt plate here. You can see it doesn't have a nut on it or anything, just the bolt. We're gonna have a pull wire, it comes in our kit.
We're gonna thread it through this front hole and we're gonna come out this one, just like that. Take our plate and we're gonna thread it onto our pull wire. Slowly feed this in, don't let go of your pull wire. Bolt, unthread your pull wire, make sure you hold onto that bolt plate so it doesn't fall back down in there. You're gonna take your plastic retaining ring like this, you're gonna have two different sizes, square size is gonna be the same, but the hole in the center's gonna be different.
Make sure you get the right one to hold this smaller bolt on. Just like that. That'll keep your bolt from falling in.Next, since we're gonna be using this most forward weld nut, I would suggest cleaning it out because it's open to the elements. So if you take some penetrating oil, wire tube brush, if you don't have one of them you can find one on our website. Just wanna make sure that our bolt is not going to cross thread. You're gonna take the smaller M8 bolt, try and hand thread it into place. Once you have your weld nut cleaned out, next thing we gotta do is we're gonna have to remove this bracket. First thing we're gonna do is we're gonna take the inaudible 00:03:34 wiring off, just on a hanger on that mount. Kind of hard to get a drill in here, so I'm gonna use a short swivel with an 18 millimeter socket. Then we're gonna have one more there.Next, we'll take our bracket, passenger side and driver side are gonna be a little bit different. They're gonna look the same, however, this part here is the part you want on the back. That's how you're gonna know your driver from your passenger side. We'll set it up like that. We're gonna take your small M8 bolt since we have existing weld nuts, you're gonna put on is a lock washer and then a flat washer. We're gonna use this bottom hole and we're gonna thread it right into that weld nut that we cleaned out. Now, we're just gonna hand tighten that for now just to hold our plate in place, we're not gonna thread it or tighten it all the way. For our bolts up here, this one put on a flat washer, lock washer, then the nut that comes in your kit. Again, we're just gonna hand tighten it for now. Now, we're in the back of the rocker panel. Go ahead and pull our tape off. This time we're gonna have a nut plate and it's gonna have a weld nut on it, or a nut on it. We wanna get it inside and we wanna go to the most forward hole. Now, we're gonna take our plastic ring, again, two different size holes, this is the one you're gonna use the bigger one on. We're gonna do the same thing we did with the front. We're gonna get that threaded on there to hold that in place. Next, we're gonna have a rear bracket that looks like this, we're gonna slide it on. We're gonna spin the weld nut that's on that bracket, or on the plate, up towards the hole. And, we're gonna take our M10 bolt, lock washer, and flat washer, and we're gonna thread it into the nut plate there. Then, we're just hand tightening these right now. Then, for our large bolt up here, flat washer, lock washer, and our nut. Then again, you're gonna repeat that same thing on the passenger side.Next, we're gonna take an 18 millimeter socket, you're gonna have a body mount here on the front. We need to remove that. We're gonna take a bracket that looks like this, passenger side and driver side are gonna look the same, again, but they're different. This plate on the side is gonna face the rear, so it's actually gonna sit just like that. Then, just reinstall the body mount bolt, and we're not gonna fully tighten it into place just yet. Next, you take your M12 bolt, lock washer, flat washer, and you're gonna do one for the front and one for the back. You'll notice the threaded slot in the end of the bar, that's where our bolts are gonna go. Now, we'll take our bar, we're gonna go on the outside of our brackets. Go ahead and loosely install.Next, I'm gonna tighten my factory body mount. We'll take an 11/16" short socket, we'll tighten this one here. 1/2", tighten this one. You just wanna make sure you don't over-tighten these. Then, we'll come to the back, tighten this one. Next, we'll take a 3/4" socket, we're gonna tighten our bolt going into our step. So it looks like my back's down just a little bit, so I'm gonna raise it and try to match it the same distance from the bottom of our rocker panel here to the top of the bar, it's where the front is, and then we'll tighten it down. That'll do it for a look at an installation on the Westin Signature Series nerf bars on our 2016 Ram 1500.

After 1 year, everything looks nice and has stayed stiff & attached. My 3 yr old daughter can climb in and out on her own, plus her Grandparents can too :-)
Instructions were clear and I was able to install them on my own w/ no special tools needed.

I had these bars installed on my wife's 2004 Santa Fe as a birthday present. She was expecting something else, though. So while they may not make a good present for the wife and end up landing you in the doghouse, they are functional. Mainly I wanted the two little ones to have an easier time getting in and out of the vehicle and the bars are just right for their little feet (the older one is a bit of a clutz).
They are positioned a little more under/close to the vehicle body than I'd like but they still look good. As for the wife, well, I recommend going with jewelry, a day at the spa, or a romantic dinner, unless your wife is really into tube steps.
My name is Carl. My son Kevin ordered them for me and installed them on my truck. I had a set on there that was about 5 years old and started to rust. These new nerf bars fit without having to make any modifications. We actually installed them about a month ago. They are excellent. Thank you, Carl
Bought these for my 2000 Chevy ZR2 Blazer...great quality and great fit
Nerf bars were packaged well and came exactly as described. Easy install with clear instructions. Installed on 1995 Ford F-150 2wd in about an hour. Bars make nice step for wife and kids to use. Nice chrome addition to new chrome bumpers. Another good experience with etrailer.com. Thanks!
I gave this product a good rating because of the misinformation on the installation rather than the construction of the product or the delivery of the product. The product was advertised as no drilling required, but when it came, the instructions plainly stated you needed a drill to complete the installation. In fact it required drilling a hole that was larger than any of my drill bits. Fortunately, I was able to install it without drilling a hole, it just doesn't give as much support as you would like.
Great, as described, one year later still look good. These were a replacement for the original which had rusted badly. I painted these with rattle can bed liner, dull black works better with my vehicle. Plus powder coating just doesn’t hold up stuff is a poor substitute for paint.
Ford F-150 step bar installationThe step bar arrived as promised on Saturday afternoon, and I installed it today with no difficulty.
The nerf bars bars were shipped quickly which was a nice surprise! Product was well packaged although two items were missing, the two “ square head cup point set screws” were nowhere to be found! The instructions were pretty good with a very clear schematic...my other suggestion is to state more clearly the fact that two of the nuts are fine thread and two are coarse. I am not mechanically gifted so any missed parts or unclear instructions can really screw things up for me! Overall...I give a “B+”!
I am familiar with the product. They are easy to install, no drilling had them on 2 previous trucks. E-Trailer had a great deal on the bars – couldn’t walk by. The price is too good. I have several other products ordered from E-Trailer. I haven’t had any miss-hap or ambiguity with the company. Business well done! Thank you!
Very easy installation process. Work gr eat
I replaced the same product from my truck that I installed 10 yearss earlier but had rusted out every thing fit exactly as before now my truck looks better
Instructions are very poorFirst, good shipping time.Great communication from E-trailer.Good product from westin. The bad is probably the worst install instructions I have ever seen.No part #s on sheet. It took me 1hr. to figure it out. After not looking at the instructions and crawing under the truck it was very simple to install.Westin should rewright the instructions.
BARS FIT AND WORK WELL, I THANK ALL OF YOU, WHO HELPED TO MAKE THAT HAPPENED. HORTON MCCLAIN
