Video Transcript for Westin Running Boards Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Traverse
Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse for our review and install of the Weston Tube Step Running Board, part number 27-6620-1835. Here's what the running boards are going to look like once they're installed. The running board is going to provide a nice, stable step for getting into and out of the vehicle. Our running board is approximately seventy two inches long from end to end, the entire width of the running board is six inches, and the rubber step in the center to provide our traction is four and a half inches wide. Our rubber step is also made of UV material so it won't crack or fade in the sunlight. Also built into our step are the grooves or channels, this will help divert water so we have a good, sure-footed gripping area. As you can see we've got a nice streamlined look with our running board because it's made of a bright anodized aluminum construction so it won't rust. Now to begin our install we need to identify the front attachment points and bracket.
Our attachment points will be the two large holes in the under body, our front bracket has two slots that will line up with those attachment points. Now to create these attachments points we're going to use the bolt plate that will go into the sub-frame, lock into position, then we will install the bracket, a flat washer, a split lock washer, and hex nut. Let's go and install our second bolt plate, then our front bracket. Keep in mind as we install our fasteners we'll install each one finger tight until they're all in place. For our rear bracket the attachment points are also pre-drilled holes, one here in the frame for the inner attachment point and one here in the body for the outer attachment point.
For our frame attachment point we're going to use the bolt plate just like our forward attachment point but for the rocker panel we're going to use the three eighths bolt and T nut. The bolt will thread onto the T nut and then slide into the rocker panel. To help hold it in place, we'll install a plastic washer. Now we're ready to put the rear bracket into position over top our hardware. Now we'll have our flat washer, split lock washer and our nut to secure our fasteners. Now that our mounting brackets are in place, let's prep our running board.
Take the running board, turn it over. Here on the inner edge is a built in slot to accept the debris shield. The inner edge of our debris shield will slide into the preformed slot, lets go put it in place. Note if you have a little liquid lubricant it might help it slide into place. Now once we have it slid into place we're ready to install our mounting hardware.
Here designed into the bottom of the running board is a track. The track bolts are square headed and will become the attachment points for securing to our brackets and we're now ready to go put our running board onto the brackets. Now to secure our track pole running board to the bracket, we're going to use a flat washer and a nylon lock nut. Now with all of our hardware installed we're going to set our running board. The running board can be adjusted in and out, and slide up or down the vehicle as needed. Now we can go ahead and tighten down our hardware. When tightening down your hardware it's recommended to start with the larger half inch hardware first and work your way down to the final size of your track pole fastener. Now with everything tightened down we're going to torque to specification as indicated in the instructions. Now with our passenger side done we will repeat the same process on the driver's side. Now with our running boards installed we're ready to hit the road. That'll do it for the review and install of the Westin sure-grip running boards, part number 27-6620-1835 on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse.

I like them. The only drawback is the treadwidth. We have to turn our feet ifewYs to get a good foothold on the running board.

These running boards were an easy 2 person installation. The added sleeve to fill the gap keeps the side and bottom of doors clean by most of so much easier to get in and out of the truck

Order placed 1/1/24. Received 1/4/24. Two boxes, 1 with running boards, second with hardware, all good. 2 black plastic "J-strips" in long box not included on parts list nor described in instructions (packing spacers?). Broke two square head bolts off while tightening nylon nuts holding running boards onto support brackets - very soft, be careful. Running boards otherwise look great and appear well built. Other aspects of install on 2024 4-Runner were straight forward and were completed in about 75 minutes.

VERY happy with the finished product. There were a couple steps not called out in the instructions that I had to figure out*, but once I did... all went together easy enough. First side I installed, the passenger side, took about an hour, and the driver side took about 30 mins.
*First was a trim strip that comes in the box. Had to figure out how to mate them to each running board. Also, on my wife's 2023 4Runner, there was a small (~2" x 5") piece of plastic in front of each rear wheel. My hunch is that it's to protect against stuff getting flung up. Had to remove those from each side to make room for the running boards. Once removed, all just came together easily.

It was easy to install. Had 2 extra parts in box that the instructions did not cover. I called the 800 number and the person new what I was talking about right away. He explained where it went and how to install it. It only took me and a helper about 45 minutes to install.

Arrived 1 day early. Installed it in less than an hour and a half. Looks fantastic. Did not have to drill any holes. Simple bolt up install. Instructions were okay , would suggest using the [online] video- very helpful. Looking to now order a hitch

Kit was delivered promptly. Installation instructions were clear. There was even a note in the instructions about excess paint likely to exist on specific frame bolts. My only suggestion in this case would be to use a die to clear the threads. I purchased one separately to fix this issue. I could not get the nuts on otherwise, and I didn't want to strip the threads.
Other than that hiccup, installation was a breeze.

I recommend this running boards. If you are determined you can install by yourself. It took me approximately 1.5 hours for each side.
Overall looks good and helps with the kids.

They need another brace that I will make. The rear mount flexes the metal on the cab. Fit good but not real sturdy.

GREAT Product! Price was perfect. Fits well, looks like OEM and actually looks better than the Ford sidestep (non electric).
Needs: perhaps a little wider and a taller gap from step to door. My foot slipped a few times on entry and on exit, not much room to step on. That is my only grip....Overall and outstanding product!
