Video Transcript for Review of Performance Tool Tools - Slip Joint Pliers - PT45ZR

Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to take a quick look at the slip joint pliers from Performance Tools. These are a pretty simple tool to have, but very nice to have as well. Can be used for all kinds of jobs, so one slip will get us into a tighter configuration, and the other gets us to a little bit wider. So let's take a closer look, talk a little bit more about what to expect whenever you get these guys. Something that I noticed with these pliers is that the handles, they're pretty comfortable to hold on to. It feels pretty good in the hand.

They're indexed fairly well. A little bit blocky on the sides, but I've got kind of small hands, so if you've got bigger hands than me, that might be a little bit more comfortable for you. They are just kind of epoxied onto the metal portion of the handle, so I think it probably will be okay, but over time, if you're really rough on your tools, there's a chance that those could break off or pop off. Again, I think you'd probably take quite a while or quite a bit of abuse, but just something to note there. The slip joint is held together by a bolt and nut. That's something I do kind of like to see, just because if it does happen to loosen up, you can always tighten it back down.

If it was something like a rivet or just kind of a post going through there without a way to tighten it, that can sometimes be annoying, because it'll loosen up and then you don't really have any recourse. There's nothing you can do because there's no way to tighten it back, so I like seeing that nut there. The handles themselves are made out of a steel alloy, so it's going to be precision machine jaws. They are made of hardened steel, so it should last you a long time. Of course, it's always good to make sure that you maintain your tools, put a little oil on them every once in a while so they don't rust out on you.As far as the length of these pliers, it's about 10" long end to end, so you can see that there. The jaws open up to be, I'd say, about 5/8".

Whenever they're kind of closed like this, the narrowest point's about 3/8, so depending on the job you have, it might get a little bit wider, but just to kind of give you an idea of the opening there. They do open pretty wide. Pretty easy to slip back and forth between those two positions. But that's pretty much it for our quick look at the slip joint pliers from Performance Tools. I hope that this has helped in deciding if this is going to be the right choice for you. It's always our goal here at etrailer.com to get you the best information possible so you can make that choice right the first time.

And again, I hope that this video is helpful. We have a lot of other tools and accessories here at etrailer.com for your RVs, boats, and more, so definitely check them out. Thanks for watching.

Good quality tool. 10" length rather than only 8" for increased leverage and more torque and more clamping power.
Cushioned handles are nice too.
Delivery was quick and the website software worked well with no complications.

Junk. The handles don't even line up! Threw it in the garbage & bought a Craftsman.
