Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most trunk lids have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your trunk lid stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your trunk lid to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this trunk lift support arm. This is a gas strut that's going to replace one lift support arm on your trunk's lid cover. So, this arm will extend to help hold the trunk open, and then gently compress while closing so you're not smashing your fingers or any of your gear in there. This is going to fit with your 2010 through 2012 Ford Fusion as well as your 2010 through 2011 Mercury Milan and your 2010 through 2012 Lincoln MKZ. This will fit right onto your OEM ball stud fittings with these nylon ball socket connectors here, so it is gonna just snap in place and give you a nice, secure connection.
Our length from one ball socket to the other ball socket is 11 and nine 16th of an inch when extended like this. When it's compressed, that will go down to about eight inches. This does feature dampening technology that's gonna provide a nice, smooth operation that helps to eliminate bouncing and jumping as you're opening and closing. It is going to ensure frictionless movement in all weather conditions. This does have a nitride coated steel shaft, so it is going to be corrosion-resistant for a nice, long lasting performance.
And this does come with a limited lifetime warranty. And so, if you we're to have any issues, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. But I don't think you're gonna have any problems, I think this is gonna do a great job replacing that original lift support arm so that your trunk will stay open when you want it to, and then gently close for you when you want it to close.
