Video Transcript for Review of Coghlans Emergency Supplies - Emergency Survival Horn - CG52FV

Hi everybody, my name is Andy with etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at Coughlin's emergency survival horn. If you're looking for items to add to an emergency kit, items to frighten off animals, or to use to a signal when you might be in danger, or you need someone to come out and rescue you, this might be an item for you to consider. Now this horn does make a loud sound and it is loud to signal for help or to scare off animals. And it operates with the simplicity of a mouth horn and the audible sound can reach up to 120 decibels. I'm going to try to give you a short demonstration of that, and let me see if I can do that for you. So that kind of gives you an idea.

I don't think I should give you any more of a demonstration to. so I don't bother my coworkers here, but let's take a closer look at this. This has a stone and twig guard here to protect the rubber membrane inside. So that sound is made by blowing into this part of the horn and it vibrates that rubber membrane and this, this guard will protect it from drops or any potentially sharp items that could puncture that membrane. This can be heard over a mile away, the sound.

As you can see it's orange, So it's highly visible in case you would happen to drop this. It does float, If you would happen to drop this in water, it does float. And this lanyard. all the length altogether is about 19 inches long and it does feature a breakaway, So it's not a strangulation hazard. If you get caught up in a tree limb or something like that, this would break away from around your neck, so that's a nice feature.

And also it does have a clip, so you can keep the lanyard around your neck and just remove the horn. If you wanted to have that convenience, that's there in this lanyard. Now just some overall measurements here. looking at the length here, we are sitting right at about three inches with the curve about guard, maybe closer to about three and a quarter inches long. And the overall diameter here at the widest point, we're sitting right at about, oh, about an inch and three quarters in diameter.

Now I would probably recommend getting more of an air horn. If you're looking for a survival horn or a horn for an emergency use, this does take quite a bit of breath to get this horn to work. So I'm thinking if you we're trying to scare off an animal or you we're out of breath and you we're frightened, this would be kind of hard to operate in my opinion. So I would recommend going along the lines of an air horn to have on hand, and we do have options such as that. We do have a tailor-made eco blue eco blast rechargeable air horn. You can find that on our website item number 3, 6, 9, 6 1 6. Obviously that's going to be a little bit more in price than something like this, but I would feel a little bit better using something like an air horn, rather than relying on a air in my lungs to operate something like this. Well that's going to conclude our look today at Coughlin's emergency survival horn. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
