Video Transcript for Erickson Dock Cleat Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out some Erickson Dock Cleats. Now we have a few different sizes to go over and talk about, and we're gonna get 'em installed in this dock and show you how they work. Let's check it out. We're here at my Uncle Ron's and we're on the dock. These are the homemade cleats he has that he uses for his boat.

He's got a new boat, so he kind of wants to upgrade the cleats too. You can see that these have seen better days. They still work, but they're a little rusted up. So we're gonna remove these and replace them with better ones. New ones to go with the new boat too.

We're gonna look at all three sizes we have today that we're working with. We're gonna start with the eight inch one. This one, we're actually installing on the dock. It's gonna be perfect for our pontoon boat or any kind of boat you wanna tie down to your dock here. We go down the line here to the six inch one.

This one's not gonna be quite good enough for a pontoon boat. You can make it work, but this one has a smaller opening for the rope to run through there, to tie it down. So this is more for a personal watercraft or even maybe some kayaks you wanna just keep around the dock during the day. You can have something to tie down to. It has a spot.

Now the smaller one here is gonna be the four inch. This one, you're not gonna be using a pontoon boat on this one. This one's gonna be for just keeping things around the dock as well. So maybe some of those pads that people walk on, the lily pads, you can tie those down just to keep them in spot. Have a designated spot to tie them down to your dock that doesn't take up a lot of space. All the cleats are gonna be a galvanized steel with a zinc coating on them. So that's gonna keep it protected from rust and corrosion. So as you put it on this dock, it should stay looking nice for a really long time. Now let's see how easy it is to install. It didn't take me that long. Check out how I did it. So now we're gonna replace this cleat with our new one here. We're just kind of replacing 'em all around the dock today. So we're just gonna start with this one. And what we're gonna do is just back out the screws out of the dock, and they look like they line up. So we'll just drop 'em right back in. So let's remove this one first. One thing I do wanna note is it does not come with its own hardware. So we're gonna use the existing, or you're gonna have to get some new hardware yourself. I got these long screws we're gonna use. They worked just fine for the old cleat, so they're gonna work great for this one too. I'm gonna match up those holes. I like that it gives you plenty of room in there to run your new hardware in there. So you can get it to line up with those holes, even if it is a little off to the side or whatever. Now we have the six inch cleat I installed right here up at the front of the dock. That's gonna be good to tie down our kayaks when we're not using it. We're not quite done with it for the day. We just kind of wanna leave it up there, maybe go have lunch up inside. And see, with this nylon cord, we're gonna use this to tie it down, our kayak. It fits right through the center of the cleat. Just to leave our kayak in the water for a little bit while we get out and take a break. That about does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..
